Nah just comparing, he has been in the league as a back-up hack. Just saying T has played his first 3 years and is Way ahead of Ground Sage in this department. He hasnt had the luxury of sitting back and taking the NFL game in. Like your gloriuos sage.

I mean look how productive his first 5 years were!!! Badger already posted his career stats, wow, sure impressive 1 more Td then interceptions!!! Wow! 79.9 passer rating.... light the world on fire!!

As they say T has more talent in his little finger then Ground Sage does in his whole body!! Do you understand the fact that this year 2009 IS the first year T-Jack was supposed to see the field. You do understand that right? Whether you want to admit it or not, this thing called the NFL is kind of complex for a Qb.

Tjack and Sage both suck. Who sucks worse? I don't know and I don't care. They both suck, and that's the bottom line.

Flip a coin and start one. Stick with him till he loses us a game or until he gets hurt, and then start the other one.

Our QB situation is the worst in the league. Has been for three years, and will be as long as Chilly-wack is here.

Let me understand this. The vikings traded a 4th rounder for a backup QB to Jackson? So what you are saying is that Jackson would have a trade value of what? a 2nd or 3rd rounder? Thats what you are saying here LOL. You can't be serious with all this. The only thing jackson is starting is the season with a clipboard in his hand....

thats forsure...sage will start forsure and the only time t-awesome will ever see the field again as a starter is because of injury.

i find it funny how packer fans want us to keep t-awesome as the starter lmmfao...i would to if i wasn't a vikes fan.

I think fishin58's just trying to balance your Sage love out.

They spent a 4th round pick on Sage to provide competition for the QB position. Neither one has it sewn-up and in my opinion the Percman/LoadMan draft bodes well for T-Jack.

And if T-Jack wins the job, Sage will be the back-up and a back-up who is definitely better than Frerotte. Or Vice Versa.

Who knows it could be Favre?

i agree...its possible to have a love fest for sage...i find it impossible for there to be a t-awesome love fest for some people but there is..thats crazy he's one of the worse qb's i've ever seen and a super slow learner.

sage is clearly the better option and way better then T...you'll see when the season starts...if we get favre then T will be a 3rd stringer about where he should be....that will be nice.

Looks like you both have a Sage love fest going with your blinders on. I'd say T-Jack had a better end to the season in his last 4 games than Sage did in his last 4 games.

Here's what they wrote about Sage during his last four games last year:

Rosenfels took over the potentially explosive Houston offense from the injured Matt Schaub and he showed both why he is considered one of the better backup QBs in the game and why he's a backup to begin with. While Rosenfels was able to spread the ball to his talented receivers and rack up passing yards, he also demonstrated an alarming tendency to place the ball in the Ravens' hands as well. Rosenfels' single TD of the day (which came on a 60 yard play to WR Kevin Walter) was more than offset by four bad interceptions.

Next Game: Rosenfels was not asked to do much through the air as the Texans kept the ball on the ground. The last pass will be the one that people remember because it occurred on the final play of the game. The pass was his only bad throw of the game, but it resulted in the game's only turnover as he threw the ball way short of its intended target and it was picked off on the Colt 35 yard line.

Next Game: This is for FishingGuru's and James belief that there guy Sage is super accurate. Rosenfels was unimpressive overall, throwing two interceptions. He was often throwing behind his receivers forcing them to significantly adjust to the pass and allowing the defense to catch up to them.

His last Game he was in: Rosenfels got off to a good start on the team's opening series as he led the Houston offense on a six play 69 yard drive that he capped with a 31 yard touchdown throw to WR Andre Johnson. He had only 12 more completions that went for a total of 157 yards. Rosenfels followed up with a first quarter interception gave Jacksonville the ball at the Houston 44 yard line.

You guys have the old syndrome of falling in love with: "The guy we haven't seen is the one we want."

I say they both have a shot to compete but the handwriting on the wall says they lean towards T-jack.

Or Maybe Favre smile

I just heard on ESPN earlier this morning that Percy Harvin is in the hospital right now with severe dehydration. Childress said he was vomiting at the airport, but that the medical team at the airport made it out to be bigger than it was.

LOL come now Rick...blinders? This from a guy who has supposedly been watching jackson the last couple years and thinks he should still be quarterbacking this team? Just a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black there especially because it looks as though you havent seen much of Sage. I've watched Sage quite a bit. It was last year at this time that texan fans wanted Sage to be the starter because he looked much better than Schaub. Schaub finally looked good last year which made it easier to deal Sage. There is no WAY this passing game looks as inept with Sage in the game as it did with Jackson...no way in ####. Thats why Sage will be the QB, because there is no way it can get worse than what we've seen with Jackson, it can ONLY be better. And we have seen absolutely NOTHING with Jackson to think things will get better with him. This team can't afford to lose another year with him at the QB position. This team goes nowhere with him at QB. If the next step is to be taken with this team, it will be taken with someone else at QB. With Jackson at QB, there is ZERO chance this team makes a superbowl run. Sage has looked decent with Houston, not horrible like Jackson. And yeah, with handing the ball to AP and playing behind a much better line and only having to throw the ball 20-25 times a game rather than 35 times a game, its not a stretch by any means to think he will have a good season. Unlike Jackson, we have seen good things with Sage.

You couldn't have watched much of Sage because I saw a couple games where he hardly threw at all, much like Jackson and Sage is 31.

Frankly I think Cutler should be QB of our team. Isn't gonna happen.Sooo...between Sage and T-Jack, I think T-Jack has the best shot at starting. You think Sage is the second coming. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that. In your defense I did see Sage a few times last year when he was extremely accurate. Then he got rattled.

Besides,

maybe it will be Favre laugh

It very well may by Favre, i wouldnt have a problem with that.

I have watched Sage quite a bit. Not just last season but in the couple seasons prior as well. There havent been many Texan games where the QB didnt throw much. They havent exactly had a stellar running game the last couple years. They have had to throw the ball to get anything done. It was a bit better last year being 13th in the league, but in 07' it was 22nd and 06' it was 21st.

Again i've said it how many times i don't think Sage is the 2nd coming of anything. Its just at this point hes clearly the best QB on the team. In 2007 he was 4-1 as a starter compared to Matt Schaubs 4-7 which is why many texan fans wanted him to be the starter heading into 08'. Schaub had a better year last year which calmed that sentiment down last year and made it easier to deal Sage after the 08' season. Remember a year the texans were asking a 2nd rounder for him....

even chilly knows if he wants to continue to be the coach he'll have to start sage....if he puts his job in t-awesomes hands he's done for...thats why he's tried getting sage for the last 2 years and finally got him....same reason he's gonna want favre...he knows with a better qb this team is a contender and not a pretender.

its no secret houston has one of the worst offensive lines and defenses in the league....the jets were no better...a qb that steps onto this team is in one of the best case scenarios they could be in.

nice article rick...this ones for you!

here's an article from a texas reporter

At one point last season, Sage Rosenfels asked Gary Kubiak to stop cursing him out every time he made a mistake.

Rosenfels tried to make his coach understand that cursing him wasn’t going to make him play better. Nor was it going to make him play harder. It was only going to make him mad.

Kubiak agreed. And stopped. Instead of losing his temper, he worked harder at explaining things to his backup quarterback.

That Kubiak would attempt to change tells you he held Rosenfels in high regard. It also tells you they must have had some interesting discussions in their three years together.

Theirs was a tense relationship at times. When they met after last season, Kubiak told him: “You and I have got a lot to talk about.”

Kubiak made it clear he wanted Rosenfels on his team. Less clear is whether Rosenfels wanted to be back.

After the 2007 season, he had asked Kubiak to trade him or allow him to compete for the starting job with the Texans.

“It wasn’t the best thing for our football team,” Kubiak said later. “I was upfront with Sage about that.”

So he didn’t trade Rosenfels because he simply was too valuable as a backup. He also didn’t allow him to compete with Matt Schaub because he didn’t want any uncertainty at quarterback.

How’s that for a tough career chat? No, Sage, you’re not leaving. No, Sage, you’re not playing.

Rosenfels reported to training camp less than thrilled with his plight, but it’s a tribute to his professionalism that he never uttered a discouraging word even though I offered him numerous opportunities.

I might have pushed him in that direction a time or two. Rosenfels said it wouldn’t be the best thing for the football team.

Putting team first

I pointed out it would be good for the newspaper industry, and don’t we all deserve a career break?

Instead of complaining, he practiced hard, played hard and kept his mouth shut. He also got paid $1.35 million, which is a good way to soothe ruffled feathers.

I’m guessing Kubiak doesn’t want to trade Rosenfels this time, either, because Matt Schaub has started and finished just 17 of his 32 games.

It’s unreasonable to think Schaub suddenly will become an iron man.

But Kubiak seems likely to trade Rosenfels this time, probably to the Minnesota Vikings.

It might not be the best thing for the Texans this time, either, but it’s the right thing to do.

The Vikings will allow Rosenfels to compete with Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job, and it’s time for him to get a real shot.

He’ll celebrate his 31st birthday next week and is about to begin his ninth NFL season. He has started just 12 games in eight years.

His window might not be closing, but it’s not going to remain open forever.

Here’s hoping the Vikings know how lucky they might be about to get.

They’re getting a really smart guy, a really competitive guy and a guy who has shown he’s good enough to win games.

He has never done it consistently, but then again, he has never had the opportunity the Vikings can give him.

The Vikings have all the other major pieces in place. Rosenfels won’t be asked to just manage the game because that’s a fallacy.

He’ll have more talent around him than he has had at any time in his career. If he’s going to make it, this is his chance.

Once the Texans signed Schaub to a $48 million contract, Rosenfels was slotted as the backup, and that was that.

He could have made things interesting when he got the Texans within five minutes of an upset of the Colts. When he was unable to finish that one off, Kubiak got Schaub back in the saddle as quickly as possible.

Let’s be clear about this. Rosenfels isn’t getting a raw deal. Schaub probably is better. He’s younger, stronger, and when he has been good, he has been really, really good. If he can stay healthy, he and Kubiak have a chance to do special things together.

Texans can gamble

The Texans will have interesting options. They’ll shop for a veteran, but they might also draft a young quarterback.

In a perfect world, they would get one capable of running some wildcat formations as a rookie.

In a really perfect world, they would get a guy just like Sage Rosenfels.

A guy that gets it in every sense of the word.

I don't have a love fest with Sage as I haven't seen a lot of what he has done. But I can't get behind T-Junk. He is horrible and just an NFL QB at all. I don't think either one is going to get us anywhere. I think we messed up by not getting a decent QB added this year.

Nice feel good story FG smile

How can you not be in love with tjack. I mean we based our first two picks in the draft just because of him. So he's obviously going to be the starter.

Still doesn't make Tarvaris any better than Sage. Either of them could start for us or be a back-up.

I'm surprised you are having a love fest for T-Jack koonie. I doubt those first two picks were for T-Jack, but they sure do fit well for him.

Might not make any differance if Favre is the starter.

I just wish we had an above average option.

I have very little faith in TJack and not much, if any, more in Sage. If either guy can step up and manage the team we could go a long way. It would be nice to not have to worry about the quarterback position.

It's hard to figure who Chilly likes in the current situation. No matter what, I think Chilly has his butt on the line and if neither guy can do the job he'll be out.

Neither TJack nor Sage is the long term solution. They're just keeping the seat warm for the next great Vikings quarterback. I HOPE!

I think they're both above average. Unfortunately, unless you have an extremely good supporting cast (including the coach), a little above average QB doesn't cut it in the play-offs.

I don't think T-jack is above average. He's average, and horrible at times. I keep reliving that playoff game in my head. He can't throw and accurate ball down field, His 3rd down skills are lacking, sure he can run but that should be a small part of his job or a bonus to his position. I'm willing to put faith in Sage, I mean at this point that's all I have. I put my faith in Tjack and it didn't pan out, but I will never give up hope. My vote is for Sage, not that it counts for much.
