Seems like the other forums have gotten really busy lately, now that the weather is warming up.

I know I haven't been on here as much this week. I have had something unusual going on every day this week. All good things, though. My middle daughter had her golden birthday on Tuesday (17 on the 17th), went to the State Capitol on Wednesday for Ag Day with a large group of farmers (our county also took 18 FFA students and two FFA advisors), throw in meetings and kid's concerts and it really fills up a week.

Next week hubby and I leave for Martinsville to catch a NASCAR truck race and cup race. grin

I have been wishin' I was fishin'. I have also been working on a HSOforum for our local chapter of Let's Go Fishing With Seniors, and yesterday helped set up the booth at the Jaycees Home and Sport show for LGFWS. I will be working the booth tonight and again on Sunday morning for 4 hours. I really need to get the garage cleaned up too and pack away all my ice fishing gear.

I actually love this time of "off season" - I've been cleaning and putting away ice fishing gear, getting the wheeler ready fro summer work and trail riding. I will be getting open water stuff out and ready this week. Need to make a few more 'lindy rigs' and some crawler 'spinner rigs'.

And I just took my course needed for 'conceal and carry'.

I have been spending the last week preparing for "The Cabin Meeting" My brothers and sisters and I had to have a money discussion about the cabin and it went really well. I am so suprized that it did. Us Goodman's can have tempers and I was worried but we came up with a very good yet inexpensive way to keep the cabin and keep money in the cabin account. I have to say though that I am glad it is over and that it will be open for the opener.

Well, the wife and I had our oldest go to Respit Care (used to give foster parents a break) and a friend took our three year old. We were midget from from 7 AM Friday until 1 PM today!!!! I was on here from time to time, but we had much other things to do. Actually we didn't do much. Went out to eat once, did some shopping and then veged around a nice quite house. Best three day vacation EVER!!!

I bought MYSELF smile two new shirts and a rod holder so the cat doesn't break my second summer rod. And my license and some Gulp. smile You can have the bill if you want, total was about $150, not a whole lot, but I have been spending way too much of my tax refunds instead of paying bills with it winkgrin.

This is transition time for me, dreaming of going fishing but too chicken to go out on the ice. Been busy with LGFWS, I am going down to Buffalo Saturday for a state wide meeting, and working on 2 websites.

I don't want to be a downer, but my mother in law passed away yesterday morning. We are waiting for all the relatives to arrive for her Saturday funeral. Fortunately, all three of her children and her husband were with her within the last few hours.

I have been coming to FM to help put me in a better frame of mind. It beats pacing around, anyway. smile

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
