I caught my first fish of 2009 today...it was a 5 lb. Redhorse on the Blue Earth River in a small slackwater area. Caught it on a 5/0 Octopus Circle hook with a crawler on.

Depends what kind of redhorse it was That'd be a huge shorthead, but some other species commonly get that large.

Went out yesterday. With most of the lake still frozen. With someone still ice fishing out in front of us. The carp were every where and it looked like they were out staging. Getting ready for there run up the creek. They weren't biting the best and only ended up catch 3 fish , but it was still fun to get out open water fishing for the first time this year.

Here is the biggest one out of the three that my dad caught measured 30 inches and 15 pounds.
