fl 12 any good?

is the fl 12 a good unit or should i step up to a 18 or 20. looked around and there all onsale so i figure now is the time to buy one if i want one.

I just baght an FL-12 from velilar.com, its referbished and i got it for 300; if you ice fish for walleyes or bottom fish i would recomend an FL-18 or 20 because of the bottom zoom. Also check creigslist if you want to find a good deal. Hope this helps!! Have fun and catch more fish with your vex!!!

i love mine. More defined lines and accurate than my FL 8 . My buddy is a Marcum guy and he can have em.

FL-12 is a great unit.

It is the flat screen model of the FL-8.

It has no zoom, but it is a great dependable unit.

$300 sounds like a great price also!

If you got the extra money I'd go with the 20. I use the 12 and the 20 and they are both good units.

well i was looking around and this place near me has them all 10% off and i dont really wanna spend more than a little over $300 and this one looks like its in my price range. i rarely fish for walleyes only more after the panfish. will it get the job done? i really like the flat screen vs. a fl 8

Well I put the fl-18 to the test tonight and I would say yes. Looked like a giant streak of red till I flipped over to zoom and really separated them nice. They were all sunfish.

how deep of water were you in? i used my uncles fl-8 and never had that problem?

zoom is nice, especially for bottom hugging fish, but the fl-12 will do a great job! I don't think you will have any problem with it for pan fish. they are very good flashers.

I have the fl-8, and i walleye fish. it does the job just fine for alot less. I for one do not like the flat screen, i dont know if its just a fear of change or what it is, but i woudlnt give my fl-8 up for anything!

The flat screen is a great feature in my opinion. Croth, I have no idea how you could not like it??? That being said, it doesn't catch fish but makes for a much more comfortable day of fishing.

Giving up the zoom is not going to hurt your success. I like to use it in 25+ FOW when fishing near the bottom but I can't tell you that I have caught fish I wouldn't have without it.

I guess every feature that helps reduce the guesswork is worth something.

I have a 12 and I have used it anywhere from 10 fow to 200 fow. It is a great unit, and I would buy one again in a minute. If you want to upgrade to get the zoom, then do it, just remember you are the one buying it, and using it. The flat face is the only way to go, so enjoy whichever one you choose!

I bought fl-12 this winter. I have to say it has been the best year ice fish so far with it. cuaght alot of fish that i would have never seen if I didn't have it. Go out and buy it and if you don't like it sell it and upgrade later.
