It was a great game and I am glad to see them go, but just wanted to keep everything in perspective.

If I was a betting man (and I am), I would be willing to wager one of the Dakota teams comes home with a national title in the money sports of mens basketball or football before the rodents do. Not a good bet on the Dakota teams but much better than betting on the track record of your supposed major university.

I'd love to take that bet! [Note from admin: Please read forum policy before posting again. Thank you.]

Man theres some smack talk going on here from people who think there is D1A basketball. LOL

FYI the BSA holds around 6100, with our last game attendance around 5700. And a new arena is in the works.

Its to bad. What makes the NCAA tourament so special, seeing a cinderalla team go to the big show and people have to rip the them and there fans apart. I remember when Vermont went on that run a few years back. Now we have a local team doing it and some people feel there not worthy. I'm not even all that big of a basketball fan but I always look forward to March Madness and now I have my schools rival playing in it. I hope UND has the success that NDSU has had going D1. Go Bison!

You might want to reread the thread. The reference was to football

Congrats to NDSU, we'll find out what their seed is in about 30 minutes....The experts are saying 13?

The D1A comment lost me too. UND fan saying go Bison. Not picking you on any of my boards but just glad to know you've set a goal for the Fighting Sioux to top when they are eligible.

I think someone is a little jealous that a little ol' team from ND is getting all the attention.

I suppose there is good reason for that since the only time MN's been mentioned lately has been in conversations debating whether or not they would even make the tourney..... hehe.gif

Or maybe they're still bitter that a certain D1-AA football team beat a certain Big "11" football team? whistle

NDSU is an irrelevant team. Hence their #14 seeding. The gophers are no "great" team either but they are some what relevant because of their ability to make a run at an advancement, even if its just one game. NDSU WILL NOT ADVANCE. You guys got invited to the dance. sure. but your going with your buck-tooth cousin and sitting in the corner all by yourselves. Which is nothing new for people from ND.

Wrong, NDSU EARNED their spot in the tourney by winning their conference. Unlike someone else who had to sweat it out until a little after five this afternoon....

EARNED!?!? you won a couple games in a hack conference filled with low rent players that cant cut it on real teams. As far as "sweating it out". please. who was sweating? some donk analyst on the east coast? ITs Big Ten Basketball dude. We spend our free time playing big time teams with big time players. You losers in ND want a sure thing underdog to bet on go with VCU, their players arent outside right now shoveling cow manure. They actually have some b-ball players and not a bunch farmers sons who cant score on an S.A.T. let alone a Basketball court.

In fairness the VCU players also cant score on an SAT but at least they can play ball.

Good luck with ND's tournament Draw.

See ya later...

Do you think the draw really matters?? The fact is, these teams from no-name conferences are just fish in a barrel when it comes down to it. Yeah, they may put up a fight for a while and maybe even pull off an upset here and there, but the chances of much more than that happening are slim to none and I think everyone knows and accepts it.

Nobody is saying NDSU is going to the Final Four for cripe's sake, we're just happy that they have their name up on the board for the first time ever and I can see why MN fans got excited when they made it that far a few years ago.....oh wait, those game results don't exist anymore because they were erased off the records.... blush

It's all relative.....just like the Vikes in their hack division filed with low-rent players.

Don't you understand the differences in the levels of conference in college BB in this country? You're trying to compare NDSU, et al, with teams in the major conferences and your ridiculous arguments have no merit. Has anyone here said NDSU is going to win the NCAA or even advance past the first round? I know I haven't so what's your beef?

Hey, as a gophers fan I resent/resemble that comment grin

But hey, if you Bison fans want to hang your hat on, in your winingest season and the Gophers losingest ever, a 6 point win, by all means go ahead. There is still that rematch looming in 2011. whistle

Playing in Minneapolis will essentially be a home game for them and they'll need all the help they can get.

Playing in Minneapolis is gonna be a homecoming for former Bloomington Jefferson big man Cole Aldrich. He's going to have a BIG game.

Guy's let's settle down here. I've grown up in the cities watchin the Gophers. Now I'm finishing up at NDSU. For those who don't know what's been going on these past few years, it's that NDSU has stolen a LOT of Minnesota talent that the ignorant Gophers coaches decided to pass on.

NDSU has beaten the U in many sports with Minnesota's own homegrown talent. All while going through the VERY difficult process of transitioning to DI from DII. In football, the BISON have come to the dome and STOMPED the Gophers twice statically. Beating them on the charts even more so than most of the Big 10, just not in the final score. This was with 18 less scholarship players!

Don't get me wrong, I still root for the Gophers, but have been disappointed with them letting go or passing on the homegrown talent. Pretty pathetic for the only DI university in a pretty good sized State.

Hey Pete, nice redneck comments. I think our 4th leading scorer of all time, Brett Winkelman, just was voted the ESPN Academic All American of the Year. This was the 3rd year he's made the 1st team all-american. We don't need Jan Gangelhoff up here to graduate our players.

As for Bison basketball, I don't know how you can root against these guys. A group of 4 guys that are 5th year seniors who have beaten #17 Wisconsin (last yr), and #8 Marquette (2 yrs ago) in their careers. They went on the road and were beating USC for most of the game this year (lost by 4), and are the 1st team since 1970 to make the tourney in their 1st year of eligibility!

This team doesn't get blown out. Minnesota was our worst lost of the year, and thats only because Minnesota played OUT of THEIR MIND. Look at the stats and see if they shot that well against any other team this year. I'd put money that the BISON would beat the Gophers 4 out of 10 times on a neutral court, and 6 out of 10 at the BSA. The gophers can't win outside the barn! NDSU played a much tougher non-conference schedule than the U of M, but happens to be in a league that was way down talent wise this year.

As for the Kansas game...it's going to be tough. I'm pumped that we'll bring about 15,000 fans to the game, and it'll be a pretty impressive showing, but Kansas is well, Kansas. If Kansas decides to overlook us, we can beat em. We have a lot of offensive weapons in Woodside, Winkleman, Nelson, and Tveldt. Any one of those players can drop 25 in a game, and at least one of them will do so. NDSU has no pressure, they had 5 years of pressure to make it here, now that there in, they should come out loose. Kansas is very talented, but young. Hopefully their inexperience comes into play. If NDSU can start out hot and play with them in the 1st half, there's no doubt in my mind they can earn a "W".

Our defense is our weak point, especially down low. If we start out slow, and our few big guys get in foul trouble, it could be ugly.

My hope is NDSU wins by 5, my prediction is NDSU looses by 7. I'll be there to witness the action in the Dome.

In the meantime, I'll sit here in this redneck hicktown of Fargo resting in the State that has a billion dollar surplus and is actually experiencing economic growth. Paying my tuition that hasn't risen in 2 years because of our State's responsible taxing and spending. Going downtown (without worry) every once in a while enjoying our multiple nationally recognized bars, drinking $2 friday night beers with no cover charge or paying $10 for parking. Living in a 3 bedroom apartment built in 2007 that's 1,700 square feet, but rent is only $1,100 a month for the 3 of us. On Thursday I might drive the 45 minutes to go release a few limits worth of 12 inch plus crappies in one of the plentiful lakes in the area. Tommorow I'll be making a pheasant casserole from a couple of the dozen's of roosters I'd shot this past fall.

Hmm...guess life isn't so bad here in Fargo, and that's coming from a homegrown Minnesotan.

Good 2nd post....but how could you type that much about the team and not mention Albert Lea Minnesota's own Ben Woodside .... This guy is SICK from the sounds of it and may be good enough to play at the next level. Woodside is the reason they are in the dance. NDSU's all-time leading scorer, has scored 60 in a game and is averaging 22.8 points, 6.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds this season and he hit the Winning shot to get them in the Tournament!

I think an UPSET or at least a scare is a possibility.

They "NDSU" have a Veteran team with a rock solid Point guard that can score. They shoot the 3 quite well and its going to be a Pro Bison crowd I believe.

Lets not forget also this isn't the most experienced Kansas team as far as NCAA play goes and if the Bison can hang long enough Kansas may just choke it away!

Long shot yes but this is why they play the game!

Go Bison!

I hope NDSU knocks the socks off the Jayhawks. KU year in and year out overlooks teams just like NDSU. NDSU is not a team to overlook and I hope they beat KU. Keep Collins in check, and keep Aldrich at bay and they can do it!!!

GO NDSU!!!!!
