The Bison have a bit to overcome in the 2nd half but if they do... Its the Big Dance baby!! ESPN2 if you are looking for the game.

While its been painful watching the Gophers waste away their chance to the dance, here's pulling for the Bison!

pretty cool to see both NDSU mens and SDSU womens teams win their leagues and most surprisingly in each schools first season as a full-fledged member of Division I

i was hoping to see an NDSU vs SDSU final tonight but we all know that would have never been possible, although it was close to happening(NOT!) I had to root for NDSU tonight though.

someone on bracketology said they could get as high as a 13. I'd like to see them as a 16. They might be one of the most dangerous 16 seeds ever. Team is full of seniors, and although BW is a (bunch of words that would get edited) the kid can ball

I'm sure they'll get higher than a 15 seed.

Regardless of what happens next Thurs or Friday as the odds are obviously against them, it's nothing short of outstanding to have earned a spot on the bracket in their short history at D-1 status.

To believe they'll go deep into the bracket would be foolish and I'd just be selling hope. grin

Another meaningless team from a meaningless conference that is representing some hick state that nobody cares about. All NDSU is doing is taking up a spot of a team that deserves the chance to play for a championship.

Maybe it will be NDSU vs Sienna in the championship?? crazygrincrazy

Are you kidding me? Who cares if they are from some small hick state? they deserve to be there just as much as anyone else.

Take a note Tubby: no TO's and get the win!!!!!!!!!!!

LMITOUT, Relax and enjoy your five minutes of fame. We all know if they played a Big 10 schedule, the closest they would have come to the big dance would be selling shirts and hats outside of the areana. shocked

It was a great game and I am glad to see them go, but just wanted to keep everything in perspective.

I fully understand that and realize there are limits of what to expect of a team from the size of school such as NDSU, not to mention it's their first year at D-1 status (in fact I already stated my expectations a few posts up) .....unlike what you will read over in the football forum about the Vikings where you have to snatch up your spot on the Super Bowl parade route early every year... whistle

Anyway, it's worth celebrating as it's a big accomplishment for a school from a so-called "hick state". In fact, it would be nice if the committee put even more mid-major schools in the bracket just so it's one less spot that the Gophers have a chance at getting, as they have no business being in the tourney either if you really want to get down to brass tacks. If the Gophers get selected all they'll be doing is taking a spot from a more deserving team from a real conference such as the Big East or ACC. The Goofs had their shot at solidifying a spot in the tourney but Tele-Tubby blew it with his timeout call.

LMITOUT, more mid-major schools getting spots in the tournament? They are rarely competitive once they arrive at the tournament. Schools like NDSU have no business being in the tournament if you really want to get down to the brass tacks. They are a feel good story, but come on and get real. I am a NDSU allum and am happy for them, but you are crazy if you think more mid major teams should be in the tournament.

Not to mention the beating that NDSU received from the Gophers early in the season.

I was being facetious.

If someone wants to cry about teams taking up spots they need to look at those who win their conference tourney by beating teams that already have a spot locked up. They are truly the teams knocking others off the bubble....not teams such as NDSU.

On a side note, these mid-major conference tourneys are the best to watch with teams that NEED to win to get in. Although they don't play at the level you see in the big boy conferences, it's all relative and it's some of the scrappiest BB you'll see. Championship week is one of the best all year. I don't care if it's Morehead vs. Austin Peay or Rider vs. Niagara, I'm watching if it's a close game.

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
