D. Reyes doesn't get rich with new team

St. Louis signed Dennys Reyes to a two-year contract worth $3 million on Thursday, adding left-handed depth to its bullpen and likely ending a wide-open race for the second left-handed spot in the relief corps. The deal includes up to $500,00 in incentives.

the twins know what they are doing with their pitchers. see ya later reyes. still, 3 mill, sitting on the bench, pitching an inning every other day? i'll quit pouring concrete for that. too bad i was a catcher.

1 sided played... Who needs that.. He is what should happen I will not argue that his D is great, but his bat is terrible.. Let the pitcher's hit and DH kubel for him.. Thats a plan... Sorry, but I can't stand the guy...

I know this is supposed to be a reyes thread but I read a stat a while ago that gave ratings for some type of zone statistic, meaning how many plays a player made in his zone of where he should/could of made the play. punto was in the middle of the pack as far as shortstops go and the comment was made that he along with a few other players who make the webgem plays on occasion are making the highlight reels in part because the better rated players make some of these same plays routinely and and of course routine plays don't make the highlights. It only becomes a highlight because he got a late jump on the ball and had to resort to a great finish to make up for the late start on the play.

I'll have to see if I can find the site again and list it but if I remember correctly punto's zone rating when he played 3b last year and the year before was a little lower than the platoon 3b players last season.

That would be interesting to see. It's kind of hard to believe that Punto would be rated so low. It seems like plenty of those highlight plays are made behind second base or deep in the hole at short. I guess I have never seen anything wrong with his range. Who has the time to watch and analize every play by every postion player to create these rankings. For the sake of consistency, only one person would have to do all this.
