Steve Foss
I got back from laker fishing on Burntside awhile ago. As you can tell from this thread, I was multi-tasking. Let the tip-ups do the work (two fish caught) while I did some work with the new Canon 10-22. I've been wanting ultra-wide for awhile, and finally traded the 17-40 for a 10-22. I was helped by the nice diffuse light as clouds started obscuring the sun, with the background sky to the east/northeast showing some distinction. Both with the Canon 30D, Canon 10-22 at 10mm, manual settings, iso100, 1/80 at f22, handheld, converted to B&W in Photoshop.

Jim Almquist
The B & W really give the shots a cool look.

Steve Foss
Hard to take pictures of fish when there's no one else to hold the camera, unless you want to lay them on the ice, and where's the photo in that? MM, so far I'm liking it a lot. It's as good a performer as my 17-40 was, and of course it's so much wider that it lets me have a different kind of fun. Though I won't be using it for posed portrait work at 10mm, unless I want to make people look like they're in the house of horrors.
dukhnt
Both are great. Although I like #2 a little better.
polarsusd81
That 10-22 is an amazing lens. When I strapped one on it was insane how wide that lens is. It can provide some interesting perspective on many every day objects. Next rental will be the wide one. Now if they could come up with a 10-600 f2.8L that cost under 1000, we would all be happy right?
