Sweet day for birding.

Today I had an exciting new visitor show up at my feeders, Mr. Pileated Woodpecker. I hope he comes back to my feeder again.

Then this evening I headed down to the bog for the second time of the day and located TWO great grey owls! They have been rather scarce lately. It was too dark to get good pictures of either but I got to see each of them catch a mouse on the side of the road.

And what would a bog visit be with out the regulars. The bog has gotten real quiet, I didn't see a birder or photographer all day. I did meet a guy from WI yesterday who got a shot of a wolf jumping into the air after a raven on Hwy 7. He was one lucky dude.

Great captures Jay!....That pileated sure is a nice bird!...almost prehistoric looking....and the great grays are still around!....they seem to be more active just before dark once again as opposed to early daylight sightings but just gotta be at the right spot at the right time I guess ...

That first image of the Pileated is a real cracker! Great perch and bg control with that one. The redpoll image is topps as well, great perch particularly with the inclusion of that cone. Nice work.
