Quick line question (again)

One thing I've noticed that really works and I do this to all of my reels after it has been spooled with new lines... I tie one end to a post and walk all the way letting all the braided line out... and when its fully out, I then increase the tension and reel it back in... I found this to really help pack in the line...

Alright so I backed my new reel with Mono like suggested, that went on nice and tight, I con not seem to get my braided line real tight though..

there's all kinds of ways to get your line on right. the best way i know is buy my line at gander or thorne. after i buy it i ask them to put it on for free for me with their machines. if you buy line most places will spool it on free, some are a couple bucks. and it doesn't have to come from behind the counter, it can be off the shelf. and that's an option too. real cheap if you buy it off their bulk spools and great if they have what you want. but if you insist i do mine just like muskydreams said. specificly i use a 7 inch swim whiz tied on deep run. the key is overloading it so you'll have enough line to still be full. too much after just snip it. works well for me. good luck.

Rebel got it exactly right! I tie mine to the ball on the back of my truck, let all the line out and then make the reel pull me back in. Gets the line packed in nice and tight from the get go!
