Do you turkey hunt on public land?

Nothing but private, all the farmers next to our property want us to thin them out too so we are able to cross over their land if needed. So there is no need to hunt on public land. We bought the property to get away from other hunters after one deer season we had slugs flying over our heads.

gurkstr, Where do you hunt? I usually hunt in 236 north of hugo, but this year didn't get picked so I am heading down to 346 by winona as where there was some surplus liscenes left. Do you hunt locally?

Hi DRH1175 - I left you a note in the other topic on this. Shoot me an email at rrgierke at yahoo dot com and I will help you out. Funny enough I am hunting locally around here this year. I have hunted with Bow and Arrow before but always brought a gun with too and often the temptation was to great for me and I used the gun instead. This year it is Bow only for me so I got the Archery permit that goes over the last 2 seasons. Down in 346 I saw birds every year, shot some, could have shot others, but struck out with the Bow so far. Overall it has been a good experience for me down there.

Gurkster, I have been tempted to try my bow, but with how few chances I get, I havn't had the guts to try it. I will stick to the trusty 12ga a few more years before switching to my bow. Good luck with your bow. Since you are hunting the late season. Let me know if you want a camera guy or something since we live so close.
