zepman
Gophers need some closers around the net. Too many "soft" shots that just aren't intended to find the back of the net.
so haaad
The Gophers allowed 5 goals on 30 shots. They might need to bring in Jacques to teach a little defense.
walleyeking
WCHA should be fun down the strech.. 5 points between the 3rd and 8th seed..UM and UND have played 2 less games though.. UND could jump to 1 and UM could jump to 3 with sweeps
PierBridge
A sweep isn't very likely for us "gophs" at this point. We're in a deep spiral right now and I think we can kiss home-ice for the play-offs good by!
redlake
Did the gophers peak a little early this year? Last year? And before that? The rodents are lacking in heart, leadership, and surprisingly, coaching.

Bear55
Its nice to see all the gopher haters coming out after a sweep. No doubt the gophers are in some kind of a funk right now and their defence has been horrible. They certainly outplayed Wisconsin most of the weekend and if we ever get our end of the rink figured out we will hard to beat. Keep on doubting us. Get-em-good
Wisconsin looked much slower than the Gophers much of the night. Gopher forwards actually looked to have an ok game. The big difference and it was a huge one, was goaltending. Kangas was the only reason they did anything last year towards the end. This year, he is the reason they are on a slide. I would bet next weekend he will be handing out water bottles to his teammates.I am hoping we can see a rematch of last years first round WCHA series at the All-Tel. We need a little revenge for last years heartbreaker. I am a Mavs fan also.
Get-em-good
their defence has been horrible. They certainly outplayed Wisconsin most of the weekend and if we ever get our end of the rink figured out we will hard to beat.It is a mindset and philosphy that is the problem. They recruit young players with good offensive skills whereas some of the more physical teams are recruiting junoirs that are more mature and know what it takes, and guys that like to get into the corners. PierBridge
You guys are lucky I don't have more time today... So our mind set and philosophy are the problem...LOL... That's pretty funny to say the least. So let me know when these Tough teams like MSU "LMAO" and North Dakota actually achieve something with their TOUGH style of play...? News Flash we've had more recent success in Hockey then all the rest of the teams in the WCHA playing our style ... K? More RECENT WCHA TITLES, MORE RECENT WCHA play off title and MORE RECENT NCAA TITLES then all of your so called tough teams have...COMBINED! There is no chance what-so-ever we are going to change our style or philosophy it would insane to change to a style that has produced less success and less results recently. K?..... solbes
Hmm, I'm enjoying this thread! When the Gophers have their swagger and bring their "A" game, they are usually very tough to beat. Tough to sustain though. I can't think of any teams in the WCHA that don't try to elevate their game when they play the Gophs. They've still got a weekend or two to straighten it out.I'm just enjoying this close WCHA season. The top 8 schools are still in the hunt for home ice in opening weekend. As a UMD fan, I'm licking my chops with series at MTU, at U of M, and home vs AA. Go Dogs!
Get-em-good
Pier, you love to get in people's craw, I bet you used to be a defensemen.LOLNorth Dakota not achieved anything? You must be kidding right? They have plenty of national titles and been a WCHA contender most years. And by the way, ND has 7 titles, MN-5. Oh, Wisc has 6 also, so that would put them ahead of the gophers too. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument right? I'm pretty sure you are the one that said that. Gophs had 2 02-03, then its back to '79. ND has had 5 in that same amount of time. I couldn't find the WCHA title or final five champs, but I will guess if nothing else ND is MN's equal.I will give you MSU, but guess what? They haven't been around near as long as Goldy Gopher. Give them some time.
Bear55
He did say more recent titles, I don't think anyone is going to disregaurd the sioux's long and sucessful history.I also don't think is a philosophy problem, this year we might have a smallish defensive core and I would like to see at least one or two big bruising defencemen back there. You have to remember that Bickel left after one year and so did Johnson, heck even Jake Taylor left after one year. Those are 3 big defensemen that we could have used last weekend. You always need a good mix of size and skill but we also can't recruit guys just because they are big, they need to have some skill and brains to keep up. so haaad
Their defense has been awful, which should include the forwards and their lack of backchecking. How many breakaways and 3-on-1's have there been since the Sioux series?!?
