Arctic Armor vs Ice Armor

Recommended Posts

I know this has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find it...

What's the difference (besides cost) between the Arctic Armor and the Ice Armor suits?

Why would you purchase one over the other?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Both suits are warm.

Arctic Armor is lighter weight, not as bulky, and you will float in Arctic Armor if you go into the water. And with Arctic Armor you can buy the jackets and the bibs separately, in case you want just one of them, or if you want to mix sizes.

You can check it out at Pro Fishing Supply if you want. You get a free pair of gloves and free shipping.

arctic armor is warmer than the blue ice armor suit. I have the blue ice armor suit. It doesn't float but i sometimes think i'm flying in it.

also it isn't the warmest, but with the right wicking layers under it one can pefect the temp. I know artcic armor can be a touch too hot for some, but prolly not a problem up here.

i like the hook keeper on the ice armor. i wear a jig just as a fashion statement smile

I also have the Blue Ice Armor suit that I purchased with the sole intent of wintertime ATV riding. All I can say is WOW. Far-I is right in that if you layer properly (I use a fleece) you can easily manage your temp.

I was out riding in 5 degree weather last year and wasn't affected in the least by the cold temps.

On the flip side, like PerchJerker said, Arctic Armor will help you stay afloat in the event you go through, isn't as bulky as Ice Armor but keeps you warm. If you get too hot, I would have to believe any of these suits come with a zipper wink that you can open and moderate your temps.

If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely purchase the Arctic Armor.

Thanks for the info guys... I had done some research on both suits, but wanted some "field tested" info as well before I ordered one or the other. I knew the experts on this forum would come through. I'm always amazed at how everyone on here is willing to lend a helping hand. What a great bunch of sportsmen and women... smile

BTW... I just orderd an Arctic Armor suit from Pro Fishing Supply. I'll report back once I get it and get a chance to try it out.

I've got an arctic armor plus suit and I love it. Half the time I just wear the bibs as I'm pretty toasted inside the shack....hole hoppin' or being outside in the negative temps isn't bad in the least bit. Do it right the first time get Arctic Armor.

Just got back from the Brainerd torney and I am so glad the wife talked me into dishing out the dough for the AA PLus---

NO DOUBT that I stayed warm. I only need a little layering underneath as I was stand out there for over 7 hours. (Minus a break to pee and buy raffle ticks.) Before with my Carhartt I would have put on tons more layers on.

(As I age) I tended to decide if I will head out to fish by the temp. NOT ANYMORE...( What is my wife up too?? whistle)

I'm with Drail. I was at Brainerd as well. You take your gloves off and your hands would freeze in a couple of minutes. My body didn't get cold at all, ever. Was outside from 8 am to 4 PM, two pee breaks otherwise in the element the whole time and was fine. Anything else, I woulda either been freezing or look like the stay puft marshmellow man. It's light, warm and biggest facter for the extra money is that it will float you and could save your life.

  • we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators

HSO Arctic Armor is good stuff. The insultex in HSO Arctic Armor has the highest rated insulation value by weight of any thing used for clothing. Nothing even close to HSO Arctic Armor.

Add in the fact that it breathes and is waterproof much like Goretex and you quickly realize this is a three season suit that can be used as rain gear too.

Throw in the amazing property of flotation and you have a suit that can help keep you alive in a dangerous situation in the event you found yourself in cold water.

It is simply the best cold weather gear available and it's also the best three season outdoor wear for those cool possibly rainy days outdoors. Keeping you warm and dry.

Stay Warm - Stay Dry - Stay Alive

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
