I hate it when the fish are biting light and your using a srping bobber and catching them but all the suddenyour spring bobber ices up on you!!!

I hate that!!!!

How do you guys deal with this or get rid of the problem without having to remove the spring bobber...??

there was a thread about this which is pushed back a few pages. i think some recommendations were st croix spring bobbers and jason mitchell spring bobber rods. both seem to not ice up so bad, but i myself don't have experience with either. i have been using the "easy bite" bobber and that works good, but i have not used it outside my fish house so it does not have the chance to freeze up. do a little searching through the older pages and you will come across some more answers.

Haha, it looks like your keyboard is icing up too.

When spring-bobbers and eyelets ice up I rub them with my fingers until they melt and try to keep them dry. Yes, I hate it.

Just one of the many joys of ice fishing. I've used spray on silicone for late fall open water fishing and that seemed to work well....I also hate dealing with it. But things could be worse.

ice buster bobbers does wonders.thats all i use it works great also i do not use small eyed fishing poles

I melted the ice on tips with my mouth but only work for short time. a good tip- don't try to melt it when put it by heater... learned my lesson hard way..

I started to use St Croix's spring bobber and it seems to work fine outside in the cold. This is the only spring bobber I have not had an issue with.

Look for a spring bobber with a larger loop on the end so it will have a harder time icing up on you.

I 2nd the JM Spring Bobber rod, it is quickly becoming me new favorite rod!

I bought a st. croix legend. Costs some money, but that was my biggest pet peave fishing for pannies. I am on the go chasin gills and in the middle of a hotr bite i don't have to deal with that problem any more.

I hate the spring bobbers with an actual spring. Pretty much worthless if you are fishing outside when cold. Go with the Jason Mitchell spring bobber rod, the St. Croix Legend, or if you want to go cheaper, get one of the HT Enterprise spring bobbers you can attach to any rod yourself with thread and nail polish...just a couple bucks. These all have a much larger hole at the spring end and won't freeze up on you. I have the JM rod and it's great.

I stopped using spring bobbers, except for maybe in a heated perm/porty. Always hated the ice up!!! I use an ultralight/fast tip most of the time nowadays.

thsoe cheapo spring bobbers always freeze, but I have the st. croix now and it NEVER freezes. I love my st. croix.

I use ice busters with these lil things called speed wevers for the stops, it works very well because the ice buster stops always move on me. the speed wever thingy never moves which is nice if your only fishing with one vex

I like to jig and be mobile so I don't generally use ice buster bobbers unless I'm going be I in m shack for a while

Just use the HT or Schooley's wire style if you are going to be outside.

You can try a product called Reel Magic. You spray it on and is supposed to help keep things from freezing up. 6-7 bucks a can
