Another question about flashers and cameras

Another question for you to help answer... How many of you fish with only a flasher, and how many of you fish with a camera and flasher together?

OR how many of you only fish with a camera???

What are your thoughts???

During the day the flasher sits unused.I can see everything with the camera.At dark the camera sits unused and the flasher gets used.

I only fish with a flasher. I don't plan on picking up a camera.

Depends on how light the bite is. Usually just a flasher but if I know there are fish down there and I can't feel them even with a spring bobber, down goes the camera and I begin picking them up.

I have both and use my flasher most of the time. The camera is nice during the day on clear lakes if you are fishing the bottom, but it does not help if the fish are suspended without a flasher.

I use my marcum lx-5 allmost all the time when im fishing walleyes or deeper panfish.I will use my camera to look to see whats down there but seems walleyes shy away more with it being down.Panfishing is another story they dont seem to mind the camera at all.To each there own me i use the flasher way more then my camera.

I use them both, camera sees more action during the day if I'm fishing perch or gills. Flasher only if I can't siught fish or after eyes after dark.

Overall, I like the flasher. You can use it all the time at any time. A camera can be fun but it is also limited to when you can use it. If there is alot of snow cover on the ice, it makes it hard to see even during day light some times. Water clarity is huge with a camera and doesn't matter with a flasher. I haven't seen a camera with very good infared lights so you can use them at night either. If I had to choose...Flasher all the way, but I do own both.

I like using my cameras ........ but a lot of times they don't get used due to dark water, fishing at night, or wanting to be more mobile.

My flashers are always going, even if I'm using the camera I'm almost always sure to be using the flasher too.

The flasher is allway on, if the water is clear and sun is up I will use the camera too.

For me, I use my underwater camera to find transition areas, to set up on the spot on a spot. I will then mostly use my LX-5 Flasher. If I am doing a lot of run and gun I will not use the camera. But they are great for learning what your flasher is telling you.

DITTO -- I set up the camera to watch out around the house. Either deeper or shallower.

Its really sad when my brother and I get together - two flashers, two cameras -- all in a two man portable...

Gotta do something out there when you dont feel like moving.

For run and gun fishing the camera is like a anchor. Mine is mostly used for collecting dust. I have a nice digital video recorder about 1.5 years old as well that the package has not been opened yet.

In terms of order- there are people out there that have neither one and wonder which to get first. Definitely get a flasher first. Cameras can be rendered worthless in murky water or in low light situations, but a flasher will always work. I have both now, and am happy to have both, but am extremely happy I went with the flasher first.

Camera in cleaner water....set well outside of my flip over...Most often on gills....you can keep it away from the small ones, and the fast movements of the escaping bait sometimes big in big sister to investigate...Plus, you allways learn more about a gills mood when you can watch them..They seem to be the least gun shy to the camera..I got the camera set up for real weeds and can't figure out how to keep them from bunching up at the bottom...any clues???

P.S...camera only on Milelacks..The only way to see if they are interested, and if the bait is in the mouth or if they are just lipping the tail of the bait....I'm only talking about Jumbo Chirps...Ain't not seen a Wally on the camera for 2 years..

flashers are almost a must for fishing unfarmiliar waters, the cammera is a nice "toy" to play around with while you are out there, not very usefull in terms of price to function.

I never leave home without a flasher. I've used them on the ice since I bought my first FL-8 20 years ago. The camera is also a great tool in certain situations. You can learn a lot about structure & fish behaviour with the camera. It's also very entertaining! But there are some days when I don't bother with either. Shallow water sight fishing is still some of the most fun I've had on the ice. If you don't have electronics try sight fishing on a clear lake.
