I have said it once and I will say it again, who really cares about stats. I care about the win!! T had 180 yards or whatever it was against the card but he had 4 tds...I would take that every time. But wait River had 308 yards last week and 3 Td's wow what a nice stat, but guess what they got kicked!!! Meanwhile Rothlesburger had 181 yards one td and a win... How pathetic he didnt throw for more then 200 yards.

If a win is what you care about, then I'm afraid you are in the wrong thread my friend. I don't know that there's another thread started yet about how Gus should be the #1 guy heading in to next season, but you may want to start one. Heck, you might even get some support from us "packer fans" on that one.

I've supported Jackson this season because i thought he was the best option on the team. I thought by the end of the year we would know one way or another if he is the answer. I don't think he is the answer for next year. In hindsight can you imagine this team with a guy like Chad Pennington at the helm this past year? There is to much talent on this team to neglect the QB position this upcoming season. Unfortunately i am not sure there are many answers out there. Drafting a QB might be good for the future but you can't bank on that for next season. Where do you go now? I doubt trading for McNabb will be an option after this run. Kassell looks like he will have a franchise tag on him.

As far as LMIT. The real reason the vikings werent a superbowl contender is simply because they are the vikings, and he doesnt like them. No one in their right mind would have argued going into the playoffs that AZ had a better shot at the superbowl than MN. The cards are proving why teams "just want to get there", because they have that shot. Sure the panthers turned the ball over, but it could have been any team recieving those gifts, yeah even the vikings LMIT believe it or not. Its the Ravens getting outgained 2:1 by the titans but still winning the game. Any team can cause TO's and win any game, of course unless you don't "get there".

james i hear ya...back when chad was available i posted on here wondering why we weren't going after him...we could of got him on the cheap and he's 10 fold better then what we had/have.

the best thing that can happen for this team is we get a decent qb and t-awesome is a back up...look how much better he got after getting benched...imagine how much better he'll be if he turns into a 5-6 year project instead lol.

That is all fine and dandy, T had a few great games in a row, but does he get ANY credit from some of these negative nancies. Even if the Vikes beat the eagles, beat the panthers...these nn would still be complaing because T only threw for 170 yards versus carolina!!!!

Dude you are talking to the wrong guy, i've supported him all year because he was the best QB on the team IMO. But lets be real, the way Pennington managed games this year a match between him and the vikings would have been great. Its pure hindsight though, alot of teams in hindsight would have taken his services this season.

fishin58 lurks the football forum waiting for anyone to say anything about t-awesome...comparing every qb stat with t-awesomes only if it favors t-awesome....if it doesn't favor t-awesome then stats don't matter lolol....chad threw 7 pics in the regular season going down field regularly like qb's do.

we don't call him t-awesome for nothing...he once threw for 4td's in one game.

don't forget chads 4 int game was against THE BEST DEFENSE in the league and 2 of them pics were by ED REED THE MANIAC...i'd rather face philly D then pitts or balt.

if t-awesome had to face BALT D and actually threw it down field for a change he'd throw alot of pics...heck even if we threw it down field against philly D....only reason he didn't throw many pics is because he throws to the safe option...pennington was bombing it down the field trying to come back...we rarely try the bomb even when we are behind unless a corner falls down.

i give you props for sticking by a player you like....i've done it and sometimes they end up being good and sometimes they are a bust or injury prone.

Like i said when it came down to Jackson being the guy this year i was ok with it. I wanted to see what he had. Not that i don't think he could be a servicable QB at some point, but this isnt a 4-12 team looking to find pieces for the future. This is a 10 win team who's biggest question mark by far is QB. Jarred Allen proved to be more than a stud. I like Berrian, i think he is a dangerous weapon. Madieu Williams was solid. Now this offseason they have to address the QB somehow. I don't know how the vikings can go into next season with the talent they have and keep going with a guy at QB is just plain a question mark. That being said there is still a big part of me that thinks that Childress still doesnt have a clue how to put a QB in a position to succeed. I was at the Philly game and kept saying why will he not run playactions and roll Jackson to the outside. They didnt do it once in the 1st half. In the 2nd half the first play they did it and hit Kleinsasser wide open. In the next drive they did it again and hit Rice on about a 12 yard out, again wide open. With how hard Philly was dialing in on AP in the 2nd half this should have been open constantly. So the question is, no matter who the QB is, when Childress gets up against coaches like Andy Reid and Jim Johnson of the eagles, can he hold his own? Because when that game was 16-14 at half a person could sense what was going to happen and it went down just like that. The vikings scored 2 TD's in the 2nd quarter and the eagles adjusted and Childress had no answer. You could feel the vikings had to have the defense make a huge play and they did getting the ball once at midfield, but the offense still couldnt take advantage. It was as if the only way in that 2nd half that the vikings could overcome the eagles adjustments was by a defensive TD or a huge run by AP. There was no confidence that Childress could dial up even a 40-50 yard drive for a FG, at least that was my feelings sitting at the game.

thats the thing we have to deal with because chill-rad won 2 more games this year with this player talent...yaaaaaaay!!!

its beyond me how a coach can have such a secure job when the guy makes zero adjustments and has the worse time management i've ever seen on a regular basis.

i was sayin earlier we either need a new coach so t-awesome can succeed or we need a new qb so chill-rad can succeed....the two don't work good together...period....personally i don't have much faith in either when it comes to crunch time but not much we can do as fans about that....we can just hope we get even more good players to offset it all.

I like Chili as a Header, however, I would like a new OC, or at elast someone that CALLS the plays. The philly game came down to one big play and thats it. It all depended on who was goin to do it. I do not care for Chester every third down. he at least has to keep A.P in there as a decoy, run a split backs set...the D has to respect both sides of the field then, screw the nay-sayers about A.P cant block...throw him the ball motion him out of the backfield, I do not care but he needs to be in there.

Please pull over, this is were I get off of your bus!

I was with ya when you stuck up for TJack, but I am not sticking up for the coach, Goodluck, it will be a tougher task to convience everyone to stick up for both Tjack and Chilly!

AWWWW come on, no thugs on the street, no love in the stairwell, no love-boat, no whizzinator, fights with posts at least lately...accountability has came a long way for your Minnesota Vikings. Next year is the make or brake year for chili, he has most of HIS pieces in place. So no one is to blame but him if he fails. Most coaches don't get a fair shake when handed a bag of dog pooooo and are fired too early.

He was handed a 9 win team. He wasnt given a 3 win team in shambles.

I'm still trying to figure out how an "offensive guru" can't get Chester and AP on the field at the same time. Any true offensive mind would have a large package every week using this. I really don't think the guy has any clue on how to create favorable matchups for his offense.

Sorry,

not a Chili fan yet.

Gotta give him credit though for making in-roads changing the culture of accountability.

The question is "Can he coach"?

Anyone notice the scripted plays he has....they work...then I do not know what happens either. If he forgets that certain plays work and does not go back to them. I am hoping for major improvements next year also and I think they will improve..with T at the helm.

James is right. The team was a winning team when he took over and it took him three years to get it back there and that's only because of AP and the defense!! His scripted plays may work because he has all week to figure them out. When other coaches figure him out he get's clueless. Reminds me of coach Red on the water boy.

zero adjustments...he makes a game plan during the week and sticks to it...some of it works and some of it doesn't like normal coaching but then the opposing coaches figure out what we are doing right away and then we are stuck....a coach with a brain would figure out what the other coaches are doing and do something to counter....like when the D blitz's everyplay you hit a quick slant from where the blitz is coming from...not us we don't do anything lol.

In my opinion, he's afraid of his own quarterback. Limited play selection, no creativity and boring. The Vikes offense the past few years has taken on the coaches own personality...dull! I would love for him to just open up the playbook and let it rip. I'll take the good with the bad but at least let's get some excitement brewing in our offense.

i wouldn't call 2 plays an adjustment though....the game is like a chess match between the coaches and chill-rad only uses his pawns...maybe his horses every now n again.

i can't stand that we never go for the throat...we could destroy some teams if we grew a pair every now n again...there's no reason 95% of our games we should be sitting at the edge of our seat down to the last minute...sometimes its fun to be in a nail biter but not dang near every week....way to conservative.

if it's 3rd and long and you have to punt anyway if you don't get the 1st might as well just throw it out there sometimes...if they pic it at least it's like a punt..if not we get a big play....screw throwin it to the underneath man everytime...sometimes its a good play depending on the situation but everytime gets a little lame imo.

with our D we can take a few chances...i'd rather go out gun slingin then the conservative approach...when we are behind and have chances to come back we still play conservative...no urgency...looks like we don't even practice a 2 minute drill or a hurry up offense...hey how about some no huddle or the wildcat atleast once a season? where's the proform with taylor and AP? quick slant the blitz? offensive guru lolololol.

lets hope we can grow a pair and defend the north title with some guts this season.

...Especially true when you consider our less than stellar punt coverage team.

good point and then when you consider that T's long throws more or less look like punts, it seems to make full sense that you have him throw long and either we'll give up an int that our wr should be able to make a quick tackle on or we might even get lucky and they throw a flag for interference.
