Cold_blood
its amazing how much its healed from such a catastrauphic injury but i still think that it should be put down cuz we know its still hurting. but the coyotes will get it soon and i doubt that it still has the fat reserves to make it through the winter

Musky Buck
In an Andy Griffith common sense sheriffing kind of a way I'd quickly dispatch it, meaning if anyone tried to ticket you for having a heart and ending suffering, then I'd gladly pay it. Common sense should say end the misery the same way I'd put my dog down if he looked like that.

dogs
Everyone is worried about its "suffering" and wants to kill it for "its sake". Who says it is suffering, its not a conventional deer. He11 give it a fighting chance, I have only 1 good leg at the time, hope none of you decide that I am suffering and take me out. My point is don't deny it the right to put up a fight on the way out because your uncomfortable with her sight. Suck it up, that deer has. That one rear leg looks pretty healed, could it be an injury from a haying sickle? If so she done good so far.

jlm
"I have only 1 good leg at the time, hope none of you decide that I am suffering and take me out".I would imagine that you have medical attention, perhaps even some meds to help if in pain. Your plate is close and I bet your frige is full to. If not you can always jump in your car or take the bus instead of walking on your one good leg to the grocery store. We are talking apples and oranges here. This deer is in pain and any animal would be walking on bone. If it does not die from infection, it most certainly will die a long agonizing death once it no longer has access to feed. In my humble opinion, this deer should be put down. Sandmannd
Most of these animals will learn to get buy the ones that don't will either die in the cold or get brought down by predators first. Sad to see, but it's how nature works as well.
BigGrassBass
I feel bad for the deer but Mother Nature has a way of working things out. Maybe this deer was ment to be food for the wolves or coyotes. There is a reason and there is a way for everything.
lungdeflator
I had a similar situation over thanksgiving 08. I was walking a new property in that big snowstorm with my bow and stepped over a log and right onto a fawn. It probably suprised me more then the deer. It had been shot during muzzy or rifle season and basically had no control over its back legs. I had a couple bonus tags left so I shot it. After gutting it I picked up the deer in one hand and my bow in the other and walked back out to the road. I weighed it in the garage, a whopping 42 lbs. Not an ounce of fat on its body. I think it wouldnt have survived another day or two after 18 inches of fresh snow.
