Ice Fishing Boots

I am going on my 10th winter with my Rocky Boots and it is time to invest in a new pair of boots for Ice Fishing.

Any thoughts or suggestions for a good but reasonable pair of ice fishing boots. I don't want to have to spend the whole wallet on a pair of boots, but something that has good insulation and will work well for ice fishing.

I use Cabela's Predator Extreme's very warm. I have owned Rocky boots as well, very good quality boots.

Pack boots are a very good economical boot that will keep you warm. Sorrel still makes a good boot for the money. Ive had mine 15 years and still going strong big and clunky though.

This year I went to a lighter boot "Muck boots" They keep you warm but if you sweat witch you will in them and you stay still your feet will get cold until you move around to generate heat and blood flow. I love how light they are, great for being active but not so for being stationary if you get damp feet. I'll use my Sorells for sitting on a bucket.

you can get them for as cheap as $40 if you look hard enough and stores have the size you need.

try and get the BETA style...they are much much warmer than non-beta.

Since I've been hearing a lot about these Mickey Mouse boots, I had to look them up. They're just like the old Bunny boots I used to have years ago. If they're made the same way, they're some of the warmest boots out there, I know the old ones were.

Myself had a pair of rockys four about 12 yrs. Then they fell apart. So with that kind of luck got another.

LaCrosse Ice King or Alpha Ice are excellent boots!

Have had a pair of LaCrosse Icemans for 15 years and still love them. Also have a pair of Canadian Kamik pack boots for the cold and the perm. shack. Nice to just slip on and off when you are in your shack.

Bunny (Micky) boots do not have a linning. If your feet sweat, you will hate them.

I have the LaCrosse Ice Kings...they keep my tootsies warm, but not good for much walking IMO.

Ive got a pair of 2000 thinsulate Inferno pac boots from Cabelas. They are a little big but they keep your feet in an inferno! No lie. Best icefishing/hunting boots i have ever owned

The cabelas predators are the best i've found. reasonable priced, light weight and very warm. In icy conditions I put .25 inch self taping sheet metal screws in the bottom for traction.

I use my Lacrosse Alpha Burley 1000 Gram boots. Completely waterproof and you can use them for bow/deer hunting too. Warm and dry feet, all the time.

I'm a big fan of my mickey boots. I've used them in -30 for 10+ hours and never had an issue. Just slap on a pair of wool socks and your golden. They are a bit clunky but if your used to pack boats, sorles etc. these won't be much of an issue.

I will put in another plud for Cabela's Predator Extreme boots. They have a Dry Plus membrane that makes them water proof, 1,200 grams of Thinsulate and a 9mm Texel liner that keep feet toasty. When I put these boots on I actually feel my feet get warmer. They are the best boots I have owned hands down. They are on sale right now too.

Ive got a pair of 2000 thinsulate Inferno pac boots from Cabelas. They are a little big but they keep your feet in an inferno! No lie. Best icefishing/hunting boots i have ever owned

I agree on the pac boots from Cabela's

but...make sure you get the ones with the line because the inferno lack insulation in the toe portion of the boot.

I returned mine and got the one with the liners and love them!

Im not sure what the "model" is but I got a pair of Baffin pack boots that are the warmest thing I have ever owned for my feet. Sitting all day with my feet on the ice, or moving around, it doesn't matter my feet stay warm! I got them for $20 at a thrift store!!!!!

I am a huge fan of the LaCrosse Iceman or IceKing boots. I have had and loved both.

I have the 1000 gram Chippewa Bighorns with Goretex and have never been cold or wet. I like them because they are a sewn sole boot and not the glued on rubber sole boots like the Rockies. I had the Blizzard Stalkers and thought they always felt cold. Not so with the Chippewa boot. I wear 1 pair of medium wieght cotton socks and haven't been cold down to -20 on a bucket in Ely.

I got a pair of the Baffin pack boots and I can honostly say my feet have never gotten cold with them. They are a little clunky, I can't drive while wearing them but its worth not having cold feet. I think they are rated to -148.

I have a pair of the ice kings. Had em for 2 seasons now and over christmas I was on Gogebic. about 6" of slush and they started leaking around the arch area. I'm sure it came from the leather of fabric area. I applied a weatherproofer to them last night and heading out today to see how they hold up, but I dont think I will be in the slush today. My dad has a pair of 1200 gram rubber boots that are awesome for the slushy days on the ice and his feet never get cold. I would like to have a pair just for those days, and use my ice kings when its not so slushy.

I also have Ice Kings...Great for sitting all day on the ice and staying warm. Yes they can leak if you go too deep into slush or water, but I have yet to find boots that don't leak when you get up to the laces in water. It is hard to find ice cleats that will fit around them because the boot is so big.
