Gomez goes 0-5

I was thinking the same thing tonight as I watched him hit 3 in a row to rodriguez...I think it would hurt his confidence, and maybe it's best to leave him where he is. The tough times are when a young player needs the most support from the team, he'll come out of it soon ( I hope!) He's got the talent, just needs alot more patience at the plate, look at Casilla, alot of patience and usually swings at strikes.

there is always going to be a time where guys have a huge slump. It happens to the best of them. Hopefully he will break out soons, or there going to have to do something to get him back into the swing of things.

Also --

What is the deal with his lack of running lately. There were a lot of chances in the past few weeks where he was doubled up. I just don't get that.

With Mauer I get it a little -- leave the hole open for him, but with Castilla?

Makes no sense to me.

I wish they would move him. It sets up your first inning so well with Span, Casilla, Mauer and Morneau. You'd still have that 1,2,3 with the speedsters with Gomez batting 9th and turning over the line up. It might cost Gomez an at bat a game. Might take some pressure off of him. As far as hurting his confidence...team comes first in my opinion. They took Lamb out when he wasn't producing. They moved Harris down in the order early in the year when he struggled. I don't know why they are coddling Gomez. Thank gawd Young has turned it around, he was another one that was frustrating to watch!!

I couldn't agree more! Put him in the 9 spot and take some pressure off the kid. It's a team game.

I hate to say it but we may have to replace Gomez with Spaun entirely if the slump continues.

He "Gomez" still has a lot to learn and the minors are probably going to be best for him at his age!

Spaun in center, Cuddy in right if this continues to much longer!

the thing is, if his average dips toward that magical .200 line, we are gonna be faced with a trip to the minors. so I would rather drop him in the order and let him have a chance there with less pressure than go spend time in AAA. The other thing is, he maybe, and I stress maybe, needs a little wakeup call. Hitting in the 9 hole may provide that.

I like the swap until Span gets sent back down whenever CUddy comes back.

Gomez needs to get that smiling confidence back when he is hitting the ball.

We have to continue to remember how young these guys are!
