beef banned into canada

I'm a cattle rancher and I'm sick and tired of Canada's Ag Dept. They flood our market with cattle that are fed up there with gov. subsudies. Then when we import this live cow with BSE from them and it turns out to test positive they shut the door to our flow of cattle into Canada. Canada overproduces and exports 50% of their beef. We in the US export %10 and import 15% and we have the safest product in the world without a case of hoof and mouth disease or BSE ever till they sent us one. Just a word to canada, you thought the last border closer hurt wait till the dust settles this time. We may even get the Country of Origin Labeling we've been pleading for for the last 8 years. Sorry I got on a rant. Things have been a little stressful the last 7 days. Just remember fellas, if you can buy from a local producer, you will get the best quality and safest product anywhere. If you buy it at walmart, you're buying someone's old dry cow.
Do me a favor. Ask your Grocier and restaraunt were they get their beef and were it originated from. Tell them you want your beef born, fed, and killed in the US, a country that has never had a case of HOF or BSE ever.

Hi fish to fry,
Like I said in the post, sorry to rant but enough is enough. NAFTA has helped Cananda and Mexico kill every ag bussiness from logging to fishing that this country has.
Back to your question, yes I've been getting a little fishing in. We got quite a warm Christmas that melted the shoreline but I think it's been cold enough as of late to make it out today or tomorrow.
I posted some pics of my catch froem one of my stockdams on this thread:

How's your fishing been going? Hope all is well. Stay in touch.
Les

Kripes, That cow with m.c.d. came from Canada. The media is blowing this thing all out of proportion. If there was one cow, where is the 2nd? This is not anything close to the Great Britain thing. The media has no clue... They must be all liberals.

waterbeater I'm with you on the country of origin, and people wonder why our economy is
in such tough shape, drive through any parking lot and look at how many foriegn cars
are there. Somebody will say that they're built here, which is right but the money leaves our shores to a foriegn corp. As far as people being afraid to eat our beef, they should worry more about the mexican kid serving them their chicken sandwich at some fast food restaurant, not being able to read the sign in the restroom saying that they have to wash their hands before returning to work. I'm more afraid of that. Enough of that, time to go ice fishing!!!

troutstix, deputydan, sorry if I offended you, maybe I should have said some kid that can't read english. Would that be racial? I don't think so. I feel sorry for the american farmers like waterbeater. But people seem to worry about mad cow disease and don't worry about you could pick up from dirty hands at some fast food stop. Sorry I offended you again.

Well, since I did not hear from the DNR regarding the CWD test they performed on my deer, I guess I will continue to feed my family on good healthy Venison. MMM nothing like a nice rare cooked back strap grilled along with a few bacon wrapped shrimp to bring on the new year!! I have to say I do agree with the country of origin label on my beef though. I do buy some of that too. I ate about 1/2 of a chicken breast sandwich about a month ago from a fast food joint. When I go to the middle, I realized it was only half cooked. I won't say the name, but it is also the name of a female starting with a W and ending in 's. smile.gif When I brought it back up to the counter, the person working there had a difficult time even understanding what my problem was. She did manage to say she was sorry( in broken English). That was it. I dropped it on the counter and left. I am not sure what I expected her to do, but I guess an offer for another sandwich or another complete meal would have been appropriate. I would have politely declined it anyway, since I no longer visit that place. Anyway, I have to agree on the fast food causing more illness that Mad Cow in the US and I would guess that somewhere, there are statisitics to prove it. Maybe someone will post them. Have a great new year all!

Not worried about Mad Cow at all. Since unlike the Brits, I don't fancy sucking down cow brain and spine juice. Give me a nice big AMERICAN BEEF burger, oh yeah and an order of fries.
