I also went thru Formula Propeller on Hwy 81 in Crystal. It's a small business in the Cities, and in an area that's struggling economically here in the metro area. Big time struggle really......

Feels good to support the local economy and the small business, even here in the Cities! Plus, packages have been known to "disappear" around here, that honestly was a concern for me. Some follow the UPS truck like some follow ambulances.......opportunists indeed!

Ralph call Jay and tel him where you heard about him and ask if he is running any specials on a prop your looking at. At times he buys a big quanity and can pass along some added savings.

Oh Ok. confused.gif

I guess Im wondering why you posted a reply that you looked into Soderblooms and found out all about pricing and shipping then? Maybe just a repair?

No matter Ralph have a good opener.

I do know Jay gets props to be fixed from all over the USA so his pricing must be better than most, even with the shipping.

What you really want is a prop repair done with templates and THEN balanced so you don't blow out the final drive seal every year and find water in your lower unit lube in the spring and the lower unit housing is cracked! Always stick with the top end prop guys.

Northlander, here is what I meant.

I needed a prop repaired. I checked around. Soderbloom's prices were great, but once I factored in shipping it to him and back, I could have it fixed about 2 miles down the road from my house for the same price or cheaper. I took my prop there, had it fixed, and it turned out great.

I appreciate the fact that Soderbloom sponsors this site, but that doesn't mean that it's the one and only place that someone should consider.

I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers, just trying to give a guy options. If that is the option that works for you, great. But I drive past Formula Propellor twice daily and they do good work as well. No need for me to waste time packing and shipping.

Ralph thats cool.

I've recommended Soderblooms many times. What you'll find with Jay is he'll work with you. We see it so often that guys are looking to tweak some performance out of their rigs. You can call Jay and pick his brains. You'll end your conversation satisfied that Jay will get your rig propped right. Call it good customer service if you will. To Jay its just the way he does business. Thats refreshing if you've ever walked into a prop repair shop feeling you've inconvenienced the guy behind the counter by asking a simple question. The only attitude you'll get from Jay is a positive one.

Besides all that, Jay's prices are good too.

Ralph I now understand what you were saying. If you live close to someone who your happy with then by all means use them.

Im not telling anyone Jay is the only show around but I have been very satisfied with all the work Jay has done for me.
