Guest
I shared with Rick the cassette music tape of fishing songs I that recectly got from Elliot Silberman. I pretty much have been listening to this tape every time I climb in my truck! I am hooked on Elliot's great homespun sound. He does some absolutely great fishing tunes!I plan to play this tape at the I.C.E. Series events as part of the entertainment.Elliot is an caricature artist and a "jug-band" musician. Rick liked his music and stated that he'ld like to have Elliot help compose and produce a fun theme-song for FM. Elliot is willing to do this! Here is the reel fun part... we can all pitch in here to write the lyrics.Think of all the things you want said about FishingMinnesota and write em down in this thread. Elliot can grab bits & pieces to build the song lyrics. I figure this song to be fun, humorious, and tell all about FM in general. "We have more fun" should be in there somewhere. The tune will be kinda Sweedishish/NorVEEianand in "Yooper's" style (that is per Rick).So...Heck dar boys, write dis tune yourself! We'll maybe use all, or some, or part of these lyrics you write here to have Elliot make the finished tune up.The finished song will be recorded and played here on FM in a download.FUN!Catch'nDave Hoggard------------------Fishermen are catch-n onCatch'n TackleFor Bass, Walleye, Pike, Lakers, Trout, PanfishUsed by FishingMN Family
Guest
As in "reel" life, I think of a song about a guy who is explaining to his wife exactly why he "needs" the internet... so he can access FishingMinnesota.com.Catch'nDave Hoggard------------------Fishermen are catch-n onCatch'n TackleFor Bass, Walleye, Pike, Lakers, Trout, PanfishUsed by FishingMN Family

Cyberfish
Hey, anyone here play musical instruments? It would be kinda cool to have a "fishin' MN" band and play around a little just for fun. I play some rhythem guitar, and a little mandolin, we could get some other guitarists, an accordian, banjo, fire up some ice augers, or whatever goofy thing we can think up...Cyb------------------simul iustus et peccator><}}}("< ---><!>

Jarrod32
If you could put the words to music, our 'pledge of the ice fishing trip' might work:May all the fish be biting,May all the drinks be drunk,I hope it's not too butt-a$$ cold, and that I don't get itchybutt. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted December 8, 2003 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 8, 2003 We do have to keep it family oriented. Let's keep the alcohol references out. I'd like to se it focused on year round fishing - outdoor fun. Emphasis on "We Have More Fun" Humor is high on the list of priorites and it would be nice if we didn't exclude da women or kids as anglers
idratherbefishing
I like what frozen minnow has going with John Denver's Thank God I'm a Country Boy. Now if we could add FM somehow into the chorus and another verse relating to summer fishing, i think we'd have something.------------------"Fishing is a condition of the mind in which one cannot possibly have a bad time."idratherbefishing

idratherbefishing
This is my version of "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" playing off of frozen minnow's idea:Well life on da lake is kinda laid back,Der ain’t much FMers like us can’t catch. It’s early to rise, early to check da threads.Tank God I have da Internet!I’d read “Fishin Minnesota’” all day if I could. But da boss and my wife wouldn’t take it very good.So I “post” when I can, work when I should.Tank God I’m a Fisherman!Chorus:Well I got me a fine boat, I got me ole fish pole,When the sun’s comin’ up I headin for da hot hole.Fishin Minnesota, “We Have More Fun!”Tank God I’m a Fishermun. When da work’s all done and da sun’s settlin’ low,I pull out my raps and I speed up da troll.Da kids are along so I gotta catch me some!Tank God I’m a FishermunWell I wouldn’t trade my boat for diamonds and jewels,I was always one of dem der fish hungry fools.I'd rather have my tackle and my fishin’ toys.Tank God I get to fish wit da boys.Chorus:Well I got me a fine boat, I got me ole fish poleWhen the sun’s comin’ up I headin for da hot hole.Fishin Minnesota, “We Have More Fun!”Tank God I’m a FishermunRepeat Chorus.------------------"Fishing is a condition of the mind in which one cannot possibly have a bad time."idratherbefishing

Guest
Well...I heard back from Elliot. He saw the FM site post here and is impressed with our attempts in songwriting... and thinks "we" should form our own FishingMinnesota Jug Band!Hey, it could be great fun. We could spin a couple of songs out here for FM, ya... for sure we could.Elliot says it is real easy and that he can help "get us on the road" if we like. He says... "As juggers, it is fun to disguise yourselves. You may really enjoy The 8th Battle of the Jugbands held every Memorial Day Sunday here in Duluth. Six hours of old time string band music. Yes Yes Yes....do it... do it ...do ut!! You must, must.......A truly wonderful idea. Go for it. Its the only way to make the wife smile when you get back late, maybe. Humor. Thats it."You can "see" some of the music that Elliot does at elliotbrothers at their .com address. I pretty much am playing the demo tape Elliot sent me full time in my van... it is great! A couple of my favorite tunes of Elliots is "Da Hookset" and Coho Hand Cream For Menhttp://www.elliotbrothers.com/yooper.htmlIf any of you guys are interested... I am ready for some "pickin' & grinnin'". Hows about it? Wanna play? We got some good starts for some "smoking" fish tunes right here, ya we sure do!Catch'nDave Hoggard------------------Fishermen are catch-n onCatch'n TackleFor Bass, Walleye, Pike, Lakers, Trout, PanfishUsed by FishingMN Family
