Anyways were heading up to LOW this weekend for the last bite of eyes hopefully the best. anyways everyone knows that the ice is deep and they are saying between 40-45 or so inches. now on average how long are augers without the ext. i have a SM LAZERMAG Express and i cant find the length of the actual auger part. (im going to college, dont have a tape measure) so im wondering will an 8" ext do or what will i need to reach deapths like this??

I don't think they are. I believe the SM uses differant than most and it spins oppisite, might be wrong on that but I think that's what I've heard.

Actually it is the boat anchor Jiffys that spin the wrong way, and all thier parts are different. Not that a wrong way spinning auger has anything to do with an extension. The Eskimo ext will work with a SM Lazer.

Calling a Jiffy a boat anchor is wrong.. I owned one for years.. it didn't cut as fast as a SM or Nills, but I had the same blades on that thing for 6 years... never needed sharpened, and always started.. but then starting has nothing to do with Jiffy, both them and SM use the exact same engine!!!!

The Jiffy, do spin a different direction though.. If I didn't own a nills now, I would have no problem owning a Jiffy again... I will say that I am more than happy with my Nills now though!

Yeah, calling a Jiffy a boat anchor is just plain wrong. There isn't a boat anchor in the world as heavy as a Jiffy grin.gif

I always thought Exts were Universal. I have both a 12" and a 18".

I have used both. I never asked anyone if it would fit my eskimo or not. I just saw them on the rack and have bought them. They both work great.

I do believe they are universal.
