Spring Bobber Insert

I prefer the meat stick over the spring bobber rod. I find the spring bobber to be a bit stiff for my liking. Its great for heavier jigs and small spoons though. I do like the action of the rod though and they are a good rod at a nice price.

With the cost of custom rods going up JM is a nice option to have.

I picked up a 26inch Jason Mitchell perch rod at Cabelas. It was in the bargin cave. Had a string hanging from one of the guides like it was comin un wrappeed. One dot of super glue and it was good as new. I paid $17 and it is a great rod. I just put a cheap spring bobber on it. Works great!

I don't know about their spring bobber rods but their rods are very good. I really favor Greg Wilceski's spring bobber design. If one could put that on a Thorne Bros or Jason Mitchell rod you would have a sweet set-up.

Rick,

I have put the St Croix spring on both a Thorne Bros and a Jason Mitchell rod. Very nice setups.

I use a 1/8" rubber grommet (found in most hardware stores). Insert it into a small rod guide (don't remember the size). I use the ceramic style, and break out the ceramic (less mass).

Using rod wrapping thread, I wrap the guide onto the tiptop of the rod. Finish by coating the thread with some Gudebrod Rod Finish.
