How much do spend on cattin?

While I try to spread my purchases out from year to year, last year hit me hard after buying the boat and rigging it up. Sad thing is... its not fully rigged yet. Getting close but I've got a few more fairly spendy things to add this summer.

Rods, reels, and sinkers I've got covered for awhile.

New Power Pro on all the reels every year adds up a bit. Restocking the 10/0 Gammies slowly adds up.

Great thing about cattin' is once you are geared up, you are geared up. Its just gas, bait, and bump after that. grin.gif

I started adding the catfishing tackle last summer. Not being a hardcore cat fanatic quite yet,I already shelled out some coin .As the saying goes, if you're going to play, you gotta pay. It's all fun.Buying stuff for fishing is fun,no matter what the species is you're chasing after.

With last year being my first year seriously chasing cats I definately dropped some serious coinage on gear, three rods and reels to go with them, Power Pro for each, and all the terminal tackle as well. But like others have said, it is all worth every penny when you are having fun. Quick estimate would have to be around $600 or so just on what I have.

honestly not that much... new lead and hooks are pretty cheap, new spool of PP every couple years. bait's cheap if it's done right.

Cabela's King Kat rods, secondhand Penn 209's, largely store brand stuff for the incidentals, secondhand gear other than that has allowed me to do pretty well for not a lot.

Of course, now that my wife is in to scrapbooking and all of the toys that come with that, I may be able to justify a bit more expenditure~ ;\)

I really don't want to know because that way the wife might find out. I think catfishing is alot cheaper than bass or walleye but I would have to think that one a while. Some body mentioned the nice thing about catfishing is once you are rigged you are set, NOT....... There are always different rods to buy and with the 3 types of cattin I do you need 3 different types of rods. I think I have 20 different set ups, but not sure. Then there ae different boats. I presently have a 18 ft Lund but have my eye on a phontoon boat. All my gear gets used and in my opinion EVERY PENNY IS WELL SPENT.
