Rich mixture of Amsoil in my Strikemaster auger

I'd like to know if I've messed anything up with my auger or if I need to do some maintenance because of a mistake I made.

I bought some of the 100:1 Amsoil to mix into the fuel for my Strikemaster Laser 2-2-4 auger and I mixed it 24:1 instead because that's what the manual said to do with the regular oil. I've come to find out I should have mixed it 100:1, which is why it took me so long to get it started the first time.

It runs fine, though there's some excess oil on the engine, once I get it going and I plan on putting the correct mixture in it the next time I go out, but do any of you have advice on whether I need to do anything else besides just getting the right mixture in there next time?

Thanks for the help in advance.

It won't hurt anything. You'll probably just have extra oil coming out of the exhaust for awhile even after you switch to the leaner mixture. It's probably building up inside the muffler and will take awhile to clear out.

I think you should be OK but I would dump out the tank and make it a little bit leaner. When I broke in my Nils I mixed it up at 50 to 1 for the first couple of tanks and I did notice that it will spit some oil at that ratio. At a 100 to 1 you will burn pretty much all the oil and have a much cleaner burning auger. If you have the pillow packs they are mixed with a gallon of gas or I believe 1.75 oz of the Amsoil Sabre.

Catcherman, The more you use it, the more you'll like it. I'd like to suggest, when you mix your fuel for your auger, unless you go through a gallon quickly, it's a good idea to use non-oxygenated fuel. It has a longer shelf life and you'll get easier starts with your equipment. You might need to shop around to find it and it's usually the Premium pump if the station carries it. It's the same fuel used in the 'collector' cars. Phred52
