All, i have an open bed truck and a very small garage. I am looking for a few ideas for locking my shelter in the back of my truck when i am not using it. please help.

Back it up to a light pole, a building whatever and don't leave any room for anyone to get in.

You could drill a hole in it and run a cable thru it and attach to the box of your truck and lock.

A topper would be the ideal way to go. Otherwise, you shouldn't even have to drill a hole through your house, just run the cable around some of the poles and maybe the seat to deter people. Don't forget to attach the auger as well. If the people really want your house they'll find a way to get it.

I run a cable through my auger handles and fish house poles. Then I run it through the hooks in my pickup box and lock everything together.

This is a great idea, but what if you don't know the person who stole your stuff. Cameras and locks for that matter, keep the honest-honest. If someone wants it bad enough, they will get it. It is unfortunate, but true.

i drilled 2 holes in the sled of mine put on a U bolt the ran a chain from the house to the box.it has 2 locks 1 on the house and on the box.thta way all you need to do is unlock it from the house and the chain stays in the box of the truck.as for the auger if we stay in a hotel i jus tbring it in.

Timber Wolf - it could handle the winter cold and would you try to take an ice house with a snarling Wolf in the back of the pick up? Neither would I.;-)

Topper would be ideal, but I like the chain idea to - it's cost effective and will still "git er done". I wouldn't leave the auger out. Even if they couldn't take it - they could break it. On mine the gas tank is plastic.

I am looking at a dewalt HSOforum at a thing they call mobilelock and sitelock. looks to be costly though

IMHO, The cable locks are the way to go. I use them all the time to secure my gear. I also use them for my portable deer stands, both in the pickup box & in the woods.

I also use a 6x8 tarp bungee'd over the Pickup bed to keep out the eyes of the ******* (<Think of any poor words) thieves. The less they see the less they are tempted.
