i have been an info 'gatherer' on this site for a long time, i finally decided to jump in. what a great place to be around 'like - minded' people!

here's one for you - when i zoom in to less than 1nm on my h2oc, the screen goes white and stays that way when i try to zoom back out. i have to power down the unit and start over. it's a brand new unit with an '04 navionics mn-ia chip.

any help would be appreciated. i could'nt find anything in the manual or on the HSOforum.

each chip had a diff affect on the gps.as for the power down thing im not sure.it should let you zoom out.

Does it do the same thing with the chip out? Do you have another chip you can borrow from somebody to try? It could be a bum chip causing the problem.

thanks for the replies. i have not tried it with out the chip in it, i don't have any others to try. the nav chip came out of the boat unit and works in there. i am heading up to mille lacs today, i might pick up a lakemaster chip on the way.

The Nav chip can only zoom in so far, and I am wondering if you are trying to zoom past the limits of the chip? I have a LM chip in mine, so I couldn't say for sure.

If you are having problesm and can't figure it out, contact Lowarnce and tell them your problem. To me it sounds like a bad chip or you drive is freezing up on you when you get too close.

I also had a problem like that with my Ifinder pro and it seem to only do it on Lake of the woods so I took it back to thorn brothers and they gave me a new chip and it worked fine I later got a lake master and I like it much better.

I think it may be a navionics chip/ gps issue. I had one in my x15 and it did the same thing. My lakemaster chip does not do that. Like previously stated if you zoom in too far it goes past the range of the chip and the gps must get a bit confused or something. Just remember not to zoom in that far. That worked for me.

You posted you have a 4 year old chip? I have the 2008 chip in my H2Oc, and no problems zooming in closer than 1 nm. I think you need to get a more up to date chip.I am sure someone here can give you a more technological answer than I,but maybe the data on a chip as old as 2004 is not keeping up to the technology of a current H2Oc.I would upgrade to a new chip.

chip was separate, you can pick one up that's a couple of years old for about $50.00

OLDER NAV CHIP WAS NOT COMPATIBLE. got a lakemaster now, everything's a-ok.

You could wait a little and people should be getting the 08 chip and maybe you could find the 07 cheap.

Yea the older nav chip didnt work so well, i think the lakemaster chips is a better chips

i have the 06 lakemaster min lakes chip and the 2008 lotw chip and i can zoom in pretty close on both chips

If you can wait, I would get it at the sportsman show. I got mine a couple of years ago and paid $213 for the h2oc & the lake master chip.

Yea the lakemaster chip you can get in really close, the Nav chip you cant. Thats why i like the LM!!! Put them side by side one day in a sporting goods story.
