Pink Floyd rules, welcome Eric from a very old Floyd fan. I was around when they first came on the scene, heck I was around when Eric Burden and the Animals first came on the scene. Heck I saw Elvis when he performed on Ed Sullivan.......man how did I get so old?

Hi everyone! I am brand new not only to this site, but also to the world of fish!!! I am so excited to go spearing tomorrow and give this new hobby a try!!! Looks like we will set up shop on Green Lake in Spicer, MN to start the festivities out!!! We went last weekend and I just about jumped out of my pants when a little family of bass came wondering through!!! I thought it was the neatest thing ever!!!

My name is Kelly and I am from West Central Minnesota! I grew up in a sports family and now, with my other-not my better :)-side in the picture, I have come to accept that I better find something of this outdoor world he speaks of to like!!! I don't know if I will be able to get into the deer hunting, but this fishing thing sounds pretty cool. If you have any tips for a first timer let me in on them. . . .I need all the help I can to outscore the "real" fisherman in this relationship!!!!!!!! smile

Hi

I am Catherine, and found this HSOforum, surfing the web, for a HSOforum for Ice Fishing. I live up in the Northern Part of Vermont. I have Seven Brothers, and one Sister. I was brought up on Hunting and Fishing. I have a Sea Nymph, 1990 Boat, with Downriggers, etc. I also like Nascar, and have been to a few of the races. I am a retired Active Army/Army National Guard, Technician. I now have more free time on my hands, and I try to get Outdoors now, as much as possible. I have one female Beagle named, Emma, she is three years old, and one female cat Mindy, who is ten years old. I love to Ice Fishing during the winter, and I go with my Nephew, who I got him, into Ice Fishing.

Hi All! I'm new to this site. A friend told me about it, so I signed up yesterday, skimmed through the forums yesterday and spent nearly an hour reading through the first 25 pages of this one today. WOW!!!!

I must say that I am quite excited to have discovered this site as well as this particular forum. Now that I kinda feel like a stalker, I figured the best remedy might be to post a bit about me.

I moved here from IA in 2002 to pursue a career with one of the largest corporations in the world. I have since moved on and at 38 years old, am in the midst of starting my own business, headed back to college, and working full-time.

Since moving to the TC metro, I have yet to meet anyone around here who loves to fish...hence the reason I am so excited about discovering this HSOforum. I am really looking forward to my first GTG. Seems many here in the cities love to 'boat' which means having a boat on the water and lying around all day. BORING!!! I don't get it. Really.

My love for the outdoors started when I was about 10 years old. My uncle took my two younger brothers and I ice fishing in the middle of a small lake not to far from home. All I remember is it was freezing cold, he had a heater that he would turn on for about 10 seconds every half hour or so...just so we would not freeze to death! Whenever I got a bite, I forgot about how cold I was...I was just so excited to reel in whatever I had caught - just to see what it was! Unfortunately, my uncle quit fishing & hunting...my dad only took us out fishing a few times but I loved every minute of it.

It was not until about 10 years ago that my best friend met a man who was an avid fisherman. I have spent the last few years joining them in DeSoto, WI (just south of LaCrosse) fishing on the river. I've also joined them in LOW several times in the month of December for ice fishing. Then we would head to a sleeper we rented on Upper Red and fish for a couple of days. Unfortunately, life got a bit crazy & I haven't been able to join them much in the last couple of years.

A couple of years ago, I was fortunate enough to have fished salmon (silvers) on the Kenai in AK. I can't wait to go back!! I was most amazed that they don't use live wells...they club the fish with a mini baseball bat then toss 'em in a bucket.

Last year, another one of my girlfriends called me and begged me to go fishing with her husband in Ely (they rented a house there for the summer) so she wouldn't have to! Of course I couldn't pass up an opportunity like that & the begging was definitely not necessary!! I happily returned a couple more times - one time was a camping/fishing/hiking trip into the BWCA for a few days. Now that was simply AMAZING and so reviving!! I highly recommend it for anyone who has not yet had the experience.

On that note, I want to thank whoever started this HSOforum & all who have contributed to it in order to keep it going. I look forward to reading more in the forums as well as meeting some of you at a GTG soon.

Catherine, Lori, welcome to both of you.

Just remember there's many other great forums here. Don't feel like you have to "waste" all your time on this one just cause you're female. smile We'd love to have you join us on the others as well.

Yes...lots of great forums here. I'm already addicted to this site. I've been eyeballing the Sturgeon Excursion forum. I've desperately wanted to go sturgeon fishing for a very long time - only caught one in my life so far. But, it appears there are no women going.

Ladies? Your thoughts? I have a friend who just bought a place next to the Wigwom in Wheeler's Point. I'd be happy to see if it's avail. that weekend if any women are interested.

Will also post there.

Hi and welcome Lori and Catherine, we do have the Piggy Perchin GTG coming up at Appeldoorns on MilleLacs. In June we are having the 2nd annual womens' GTG at the same resort. The owner Paul goes out of his way for all his guests and runs a class A-1 resort. Last year we had a riot, we camped, we fished, we laughed, and it was a fantastic weekend. I am not sure if I could handle sturgeon fishing, getting kind old and crotchety here.

Lori - My godson (crazyice on the forum) has been begging me to go to the Sturgeon Excursion. He says they have an absolute blast! It's great to hear the storeis of how large those creatures are. I'd love to go, but have to check my schedule to see if I can get away.

Check your schedule for the weekend in June that Iambjm mentioned. That weekend will be so much fun - I can't wait. You will meet some great women at that GTG for sure.
