I have not lifted or pulled by hand since the mods. I use a wheeler or snowmobile to tow as I live a block or 2 from the lake.

Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun with your mods!!!

FLaker, do your seats slide into them guides.

On a side note, I took my modded sled out for the first time this weekend. I'm buying a 4 wheeler. The short 50 yard walk I made had me glad I quit smoking a couple months back.

Thanks for the compliments.

I have the black plastic seats with the 1/4" foam pad. The seats fit in the aluminum channels. It is u channel in the front turned on its side and angle on the rear. I got the aluminum angle and channel at big box. To be honest, I don't use the seats much since the mod, usually just sit on my jacket on top of the ply.

Whatever is taller than 11". The big buddy sits back there and I don't have to worry about it burning something up after I get done at the end of the day and don't want to wait for it to cool down before I tuck it under somewhere and drag it back in. Oh, and a case of beer. grin.gif

Got the idea of leaving the spot open from someone online here. This site helped me out a bunch.

DzNuts,

Nice mod.!

Did you get those seats a Cabela's?

I almost got the same ones last weekend. How much where they a piece? The ones I was looking at did not have a price on them. The ones just like them where $29.95 each, not camo.

Regarding the strike lite. I have never had a problem, it actually sits like the picture all summer long. From what I understand from talking with Strikemaster and reading the manual, you can set it any side down, except on the handle nearest the gas tank. Someone else may want to comment as well.

Thanks for the compliments.

Shackbash, the seat were 34.99 a piece. There was two diffent covers on the camos ones. I chose the canvas type ones since they had the swivels already attached to them. Some didn't come with the swivels that you would have had to purchase seperate for like $5. These were at FleetFarm.

I also have a couple switches to add on once I get the LEDs I want.

The add-ons (including the radio) cost me $300. That's not including the cost of beer it took to put this together.

how long did it take you to build your own houses?

I'd say from start to finish- Maybe 10 hours... and 2 1/2 cases of beer.

I'd say you should be able to do it in a day if you had all the material you needed.

One tip. Besure to account for the amount of space the carpet will take up between panels. I though maybe the saw blade would cut out most the space need, but I still had to cut out about 3/4" on top of the initial cuts. Incase that didn't make sense--I had one panel laid out on top and cut it up into pieces.

I'd say about 5-6 hours. I have the same advice about the carpet. Leave about 1/4" between panels. Another warning. If you lift your house in and out of the back of your vehicle, you may not want to do a mod. It added more weight than I anticipated.

I would be willing to do mods for others if anybody was interested. We would have to discuss terms away from the site of course.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
