Finally! My 1st Iowa buck!

Shot this buck on December 8, 2007 at 1015. Watched him from sun up from my double bull blind until I finally put a stalk on him to close the distance to 50 yds. Put 2 slugs through his shoulder, and he dropped like a ton of bricks! Has a 17" inside spread, scored 139.75". Next time I will be bringing someone with me to help drag and load the deer into the truck....I'm still aching from the 130 yd drag up-hill from the bottom of a southern Iowa ravine, and getting him into the truck! Never been so glad to have a ratchet strap in the truck!

Very nice deer, congrat's. Did you have frezing rain in the area you hunted? I was hunting southern Iowa as well that weekend (Mount Ayr area) and we had to hunt in the freezing rain and sleet the entire weekend.

By the time the freezing rain/sleet started I was already home, and had the buck hung in the garage.
