Shoot2Kill
Anybody have any recommendations for a meat processor to take a deer to in the St Cloud area? I've used the one in Kimball for the past 2 years and have not been overly impressed and am looking for somewhere new. Thanks!
Tippman
I've done some experimenting in the area. What kind of stuff are you looking to have done? I've found there is a huge difference in prices just in a 30 mile area. Let me know what you want made and how big of deal the price is and I'll give you more info. Royce Aardahl
Manaes in sauk rapids has been getting my trimmings for 8 years. Lottsa choices. They do one persons stuff only so you get your own meat back, you just have to bring in about 12 pounds or more. nice new store just east of the new fancy bridge. huntingmaxima
We have been going to McDonalds in Clearlake for many years and have been very pleased wiht their work. This year we took 4 moose to Kurts buchering in Albany, just to try something new, and they also did a great job.
jweitgen
That is a no brainer. McDonalds in Clear Lake.

Shoot2Kill
Thanks for the info fellas. We're not looking for anything special, we just want some jerky, sticks, and summer sausage that your mouth waters for - unlike what I've received back from the joint in Kimball the last 2 years. So it's either Manaes or McDonalds??? Thanks!
bigdog
Another vote for Kurtz Country Meats. Great sticks and German style brats. Been going there for years.
Tippman
You may also want to check into Theilen's. There is one in Pierz and Little Falls which are similiar but slightly different prices. They have the same qualitiy and prices are much cheaper than the previous mentioned places.
Kyle
Mcdonalds for SURE! Weve been bringing them there for years, and they always do an excellent job. They will skin and bone for you if you so choose also!
UMDSportsman
You might want to check out the Foley Locker. I think their prices might be a little higher, but I won't eat summer sausage from any where else. I have tried some from a couple other places, just doesn't taste that good. i also like their Polish and their wild rice brauts. I haven't tried a lot of their sticks, but the ones i have tried were pretty good.
WaveWacker
How about Von Hanson's? The one by West Side Liquor. Haven't been there but had their in house sausage/meat products and they seem good.
Tippman
Von Hansons does very good work. The prices however are about as high as you'll find.
SSSTaxidermy
I don't know about the process portion of it, because I make my own..However I get my spices from Dave's out of Foley. Hand mixed by them to you liking. I recommend them if you ever venture in that direction.
Mille Lacs Guy
What is the typical cost per pound for summer sausage and pepper sticks? We just picked up our deer meat and were surprised at the price. It ended up being about $4.11 a pound for everything we did. That includes skinning the deer and all the meat cutting as well. Tippman
I always cut up my own deer and just bring in scraps but sticks and summer sausage are on opposite ends of the price range. You have to pay attention to what you're getting into with processing charges. Some places charge a flat fee per pound of meat you bring in. Others will charge per pound of venison, per pound of pork added, plus grind and/or packaging charges which can really add up in a hurry.
