Quackaddict9
SI recently announced that St.Paul is the new Hockeytown, USA. Sounds better here than in Detroit, MI.
maros91
Yeah, I seen that. They said in Detroit ticket sales were down and the were not selling out the Joe anymore. Hockeytown, USA is not Detroit, MI it is St. Paul, MN!!!!!
papabear
they did a good job in a short article describing how important hockey is here. It goes beyond the pro game unlike Philly and Det. Ive met some folks from Buffalo and they can be almost considered Canadian in the way they feel about hocley.

AaronM
Actually the true hockeytown is Warroad Great high school hockey, the Warroad Lakers, the Christian Brothers and Henry Bouche.
IFallsRon
Any place with a failed/failing Ford plant is off the hockeytown list.

Roofer
A failing Ford plant is just a matter of time, and there will be more with the recalls they are issuing.I thought Eveleth was Hockeytown. For percentage of population, these northern cities probably have more players in hockey than St. Paul. PierBridge
What in the world would a failing Ford plant in ST. Paul or Detroit have to do with the topic of this thread?????

papabear
MN is the State of Hockey! We have a long rich tradition to be proud of that no other town or state can compare. So lets be proud of all the players from Warroad to Wabasha and Morehead to Mora. Heck we are the home to the Hanson Brothers. And then there are so many good teams in college and high school, even old timer leagues. Remember the Miracle on Ice was not the sole work of Jim Craig and Mike Eruzione, I believe there were some guys and maybe a coach from MN. Come to think of it Boston did not even get mentioned in that article. So it stands to reason that Hockeytown USA is the capital of the State of Hockey.
