Bob/Mn
This is a tool to remove the anal alimentary canal from deer. Has anyone used or seen this tool in action and how well did it work?
fishtrapgirl
We used it on one deer this fall and it really worked great. Pretty handy tool and inexpensive too. I would recommend keeping one in your hunting pack.fishtrapgirl

They're easy and simple to sue and saves your hunting blade as well as time. They'll be your new best friend.
harvey lee
I simply trim around the anal area with my knife and then after gutting the deer, simply pull it all out. Works great without a tool.
Steve Foss
I do what Harvey Lee does. Nothing wrong with a good tool, but the fewer tools I need to bring in my pack, the happier I am.
Marmot
How do you get the twisted azz off the tool?
Grant Pearson
you cut it off. takes 2 seconds. I like fewer tools/gadgets too, but it takes up minimal space and weighs maybe 2 ounces. you really don't notice it. Plus, it's a step that's been made easier. Gissert
I am with Harvey and Steve, I just use a knife and some wax lacing cord and pull the whole works out from the front. I do use a smaller blade than I used to when field dressing. My current knife is only about 3.5 inches long. That butt-out tool does look pretty slick, however. If I dressed out more than a couple of deer, I'd probably get one.
BLACKJACK
I like tying off the anus, no little pellets (or green goo) to contaminate the meat. But you better have a SHARP knife when doing your cutting around it.
picksbigwagon
I used the butt out twice this fall, I fully recommend it. I used to carry a folding filet knife for cutting around the sphincter, but decided the night before my opening weekend at FF to buy one, for 9 bucks I figured it was worth it. The first time I used it, I didn't twist right or pulled too hard and it ripped part way, but I was still able to tie off. On Turkey Day, I used it again on my brother in laws buck and used a zip tie, works slick as snot......that butt out tool has garnered a spot next to my hagens bone saw as two tools I won't go deer hunting with out. Now that the seasons are basically over, pick one up, they work well, the second time I was done in less than 30 seconds
Scott K
I was going to buy one before hunting and thought, its not that big of a deal to do it the normal way with a knife, so I didnt buy it, i cleaned 4 deer opening day, bought one the next day, we didnt get anymore deer after that. So I never got to use it, but I have it for next year, and I am glad they have a good review!
