They may not be listed as 12 volt, but they still could be. I bought a 15" LCD tv a while back and it was 110V, but it had an inline transformer (on the plug in) that converted the power to 12 volt into the TV. I went to radio shack and bought a 12 volt plug that would fit it.

So, check the TV to see if the plug into the TV is 110 or 12 volt. IF that makes any sense..

If you check your day after Thanksgiving Day big One Day sale ads for Friday there'll be a ton of them and at rock bottom prices "while supplies last". You'll have to get up very early and be ready to for the "anything goes mob style shopping". If your new to it, you'll be trampled and abused by otherwise sweet little ol'ladies. Last bit of advice, just because its in your cart means nothing. grin.gif

Also check places like Checker, Pep Boys, Auto Zone etc. Anything that works in a car or van would be 12 volt. Also, they require very little power to run, so check the specs on your household 110 volt one and possibly a small 200 or 400 watt inverter would run it just fine.

I've always wondered say,a 75 watt light and a 13 inch dvd/tv draws together 7to10 amps how long will the 12volt marine battery last with an inverter vs using dc light and tv to begin with???????c63 Whats the advantage of ac vs dc? confused.gif

Advantage of DC vs AC you ask? DC is more efficient when your power source is from a DC battery. Converting DC to AC through the inverter loses about 15% of the battery capacity for a 85% efficient inverter. But, AC devices such as TV's are much cheaper than their DC counterparts - so it's a trade off you have to decide on. Cheaper devices and less run time from your battery with the inverter, or more expensive devices with longer run time on the battery.

I typically have 1 battery hooked up to the 12 volt accessories (lights/furnace), and another battery that I use for my 120v AC power source with the inverter connected up. Kids watch a lot of movies on the ice, and I partake in a football game or 2. I'd say a single battery charge is good for about 6-7 hours of TV/DVD watching using the inverter. I usually run the generator during the middle of the day charging up the batteries, then as 4:00pm nears - all the batteries are charged up and the generator goes off for the prime time bite...

Thanks for the advice, have just a 5 inch black and white in the icehouse now but thinking about a upgrade. Will have a generator this year too. (Figure I can keep my 2.5 yr old occupied a bit if i can get a tv/dvd player b/c cant see him fishing for very long until he gets bored)
