The Can

Just curious how many use it. I was watching a show last night with a guy demenstrating how to use it and all the different calls that can be made with it. Found out that if you just tip it over and the sound that comes out could accually make a sound of a doe in panic mode. Heck no wonder I can't shoot a deer. I have been using this call and scaring all the deer right off of our property. I don't ever remember seeing different ways to call other then just tipping it over. HMMMM I guess you learn something everyday.

The one I have is just a doe bleat. Do I blow in it?? I think not. The show last night showed how to tip the can and make different bleats. Friendly, cautious, doe calling a fawn or a fawn looking for momma and the secret call of the doe telling MR Buck she is ready for the naughty. I have had calls for many years and honestly can never say I have never had a deer respond to one. Then again some people in our party sware by them. Who know!!! I can watch deer shows that show them responding to the calls but as for me I still do it but have not had any success.

They showed different ways to tip it. Half a tip is a doe looking for a fawn. The bounce you talk about is a doe friendly greeting. Now the ? is the way to get the monster buck to come out looking for his hot chick. If they knew that you couldn't buy it because everyone and their brother would own it. Or it would be banned because it would be concidered a sort of baiting. I have sat in a stand and tipped it just like any Tom, Dick or Harry would think it work best only to find out I'm doing it wrong. The only thing I got out of the show last night is if you do it that way it is a call of distress or a doe in fear of it's life. That is why I said when I do it all the deer head out of the county. It was a pretty cool show. To tel the truth I don't even know what the show was called. It was on the outdoor channel. Some elderly guy giving his speal.

I was just at walfart looking the original can. They have a small fast one and the regular long one. Yes, you can do more than just bleat.

The can I was referring to is like the can. I saw it this morning at hardware store. It looks just like the can, but a little bigger and has a blow deal with reed stick out the side of the can you can blow into and make buck grunts. This was a doe bleat can and buck grunter all in one. Sorry for the miss conception.

All I have seen this year is does and fawns one buck during bow season. I don't think you want me telling my secrets of the call. I wish there was a call or even direction on using it correctly. Maybe there was I opened it and tossed the package.

i dont know about the can, but i use a True Talker, and i can honestly say its made my season. Grunted in the buck on my avatar with it, and did 2 doe bleats and a series of tending grunts to call in another very nice buck this past saturday. The true talker can do anything from a fawn call to grandpa monster buck. Ive had one for a month and i honestly dont know what i was doing without it before that. Buy the one with the instructional video and watch it. Its only about 15 mins long and VERY helpful

I have used the can, actullay called in an 8 pointer to 15 yards on sunday, all I was doing was holding the hole, and tipping it over, repeat. i did figure out you can blow in the small hole and get all sorts of tones out of it, holding it at different angles.

I have the can and love it. I have been using it for about 4 years and have called in many bucks with it. This year I got my best buck ever because of the can... I did a calling sequence at 10:30, again at 10:50 and at 11:00 I had a 125 class come walking right to my stand... I dropped him at 50 yds. 10 min after I shot, a bigger deer (I am guessing 150 class) came in on the same route but got spooked when he saw the dead buck in his way. I have never seen anything like that before... very cool. shocked.gif

Anyways, yes I reccomend the can. there are three sizes and I use the "original can" by primos.

The Can works good for calling sheep too.

Baaaaaaa.

Anyone else agree?

You perv!! grin.gifgrin.gif

Good one!!

But, seriously I was getting at the point that if you don't tip the can over in a fluid motion often times you get a sheep call instead of a deer bleat.

I have called a buck in with one. I think they are probably one of the best bleat calls out there.

P.S. No velcro gloves here.

Last years 8 pointer came from God only knows where in the woods to my can call. He had mud on his feet and the nearest swamp was 300 yds away!

A couple weeks ago I had a nicer 8 coming to the can call coupled with tending grunts. He was coming in perfectly...right until he swung by the scrape for a sniff. You know, the scrape I put my trail cam on for the overnight. Yeah, the same trail cam I didn't have the foresight to spray with Scentkiller.

I might as well have been right there and punched him in the nose personally! tongue.gif All gone.

This is what the can brought in this year for my dad, and he hit a Huge one the day before, couldn't find it. My wife has called in an 8 and 6 with the can the past 2 years, but is not hunting this year due to Baby due Dec. 11th.

I've had the can call in several curious young antlerless deer to see what was wrong. I have NEVER had a buck come in to investigate. I didn't see any where on the package the taped hole on the bottom could be used to make different sounds...That's weird! Now I have to go experiment with it.

Thanks for the tip,

Ferny.
