Boat Registration Decals

Hotspotter

Question

I'm in the process of changing registration from a boat I bought in ND. It'll likely need new registration decals. Would be nice to have something that matches the current paint job. Where to go to find a good selection at the right price?

Online is easy enough, but a set for both sides plus shipping is around $30. Not confident on 100% color match either.

One really needs to shop around to find a decal designer that will do it for a little less. We have worked with numerous different companies for the race car and some have just as good of quality but a less spendy price. One also has to remember that usually the less expensive decals are on much cheaper printe paper. The good ones will stay on the vechile and not wash off with a pressure washer.

I dont know of any shop that will color match to your boat and then make two for $30.00. Good ones will run closer to $50.00 or more.I personally have not found them for less but they could be out there.

I do know that the place we have do our decals is much less expensive than most others and still uses good quality paper and does a great job.

I have a friend who wanted decals to match the custom color on his Ranger. He ordered decals online. He ordered them clear, with two shades of color on the boarder of each letter/number. The boarder essentially creates enough color that is different from the hull to make the letters/numbers very visible, but they match the hull (since it is the hull showing through. The boarder colors he chose were black and silver which are trim colors on the boat. Yes, they were $25+ shipping, but look great.

I recently had the registration numbers put on my new boat by a local decal shop here in Alexandria. $30.00 installed, I took my boat by on a Tuesday and picked the color and font then went back on Thursday and he installed in less then 5 minutes.

They do this quite often and new all the requirements as far as size, spacing & location.

I would think you would have a local shop in your area that would do this.

As previously said don’t be cheap on your lettering it looks very nice when done correctly.

I have a black and silver boat, I bought decals that weren't too expensive ($15.95 from a dealer) that I thought were a pretty good match. They are from Hardline Products. I put them on myself, so basically I had sixteen bucks and some change into them after sales tax.

They are black and silver, I think the reflection from the flash and metallic flake in the decal makes them look a little more white than silver in the picture.

Although for $30, like S.D. Ice Angular talked about, that sounds like a pretty good price.
