Nova
my very first gun that was truely mine was a 20 gauge 870 wingmaster I got for my 10th birthday. That was 33 years ago and I still have it. The next gun was a 12 gauge 870 which I also still have. Great guns no doubt.

Baerfisher
WOW! Lots of love for the 870, as there should be. Only shotgun I own. I have tried others and nothing shoots better. I have wow'd many Benelli, Beretta, etc... owners by doubling and once trippling (geese) up on game with the old pump.
beavflick
i shoot a 870. its 10yrs old and can not stand the gun anymore. I will be shooting a Berreta Xtreama 2 next year.
walleyeking#8
Got my first 870 (wingmaster) when i was 18 and I bought it used. It had about a box of shells shot through it, so it was in excellent shape. I will be turning the big 4 0 come next may and i wouldn't trade it for the world. lawdog
I have three 870's, two for deer hunting in 12 guage (one with cantilever scope and one with open sighted smooth bore slug barrel). The open sighted gun my dad bought used in 1952 or 53 after he got back from Korea, it has to be one of the first ones made and it still shoots flawlessly.I also have a 20 gauge that I use for early season pheasant hunting and now Jr. has a 20 guage youth model too. Best pump gun made...
william wallace
Hello all..... quick question for you guys.... do any of you have problems with the plastic peice sticking where you insert your extra shells???? My thumb is all ripped up from trying to push that thing in.... i replaced it last year and it is doing the same thing... any suggestions for me????p.s. my gun is extremely clean so I know its not because its dirty. Baerfisher
Check the spring that the plastic piece fits into. It may be that the spring somewhere is kinked, or looped over its self. My grandfather had that happen on his a while ago.
william wallace
i checked the spring and it is fine..... it is stuck at the bottom where you load your second shell.... its like it catching on the metal or something

tip-up king
WW, this probably isn't the most scientific fix to your problem but it worked for me. Put one wrap of 3M 33+ electrical tape over the end of your plug cap. Make sure you use the 33+ it stays rubbery in cold temps and wont get brittle and break off. Good luck. Oh yah, 1 12ga, 1 20 both wingmasters
