Any body still bear hunting?

We are but it has been tough. A sow and 3 cubs took over the bait and are coming in at night after being spooked away. We were having random bears but since she came no other bears have came in so we are trying a "no bait" for a few days to try and get her to move on. Has anyone had this senario?

I am still hunting but it has become tough on state land with all the grouse hunters out. I have two different boars coming in, one looks to only be 150-175, and the other comes in just after legal shooting and i think he is 250+. I pics and will post if anybody want to see and tell me what they think.

We've got 2 active sites, but all of them are getting hit in the middle of the night, ugh! We don't know how to prevent this but it sure is frustrating. One site is getting hit from multiple boars, cubs, and sow with cubs. The other is getting hit by a nice sized boar. Any one have any suggestions on getting them away from being nocturnal besides pulling the bait at night? I live 1/2 hour from my bear hunting land and two trips a day just isn't an option.

Friend of mine shot a 200# bear yesterday in the no quota area. But he still has a 500# in the area.

I just hope I can talk my wife into letting me skip work Saturday 4 times in a row so I can head up there in 2 weeks.

Try doing a bacon or honey burn to bring them in. Putting out different scent may make them curious and bring them in earlier.

I am with biff on that one I have had a NEW scent bring em in just out of curiosity.

Vanilla and liquid smoke are good.

hey bear hunter, do you hunt bear around brookston? thats where we had our sites but we pulled them the other night due to the nocturnal bears

I tagged out this year, but in years past I've had some good luck late in the year. It seems like after the first two weeks most of the other guys hang it up. If you can get in an area that isn't being trampled by other hunters it can pay off right to the end.

Well my dad finally decided to pull the trigger last friday. We had 2 baits out for him and they were pounded hard but the only bears he was seeing were small. The big guys must have been nocturnal.

Anyway we put a new bait out about 2 mile from the other baits and it was hit within 2 days. So he hunted that bait with no luck the first night. We came back at around noon the next day and the bait was hit already, (oh great they're nocturnal). He sat on the bait that night anyway and about 10 min before dark a nice boar came in and started licking the bacon grease and thats when I heard the Ol' 870 echo through the swamp. It feild dressed at 150lbs. Not a bad present to get on his birthday!

where is the farthest south everyone hunts. I have bear at my deer spot by Almelund. What about Wyoming any bear that far south? A guy at work claims his brother is successfull every year by forest lake? Do you think that is true?

I hunt the Milaca to Dalbo area. Dalbo is 20 miles north of St. Francis. There are bear in that area.

A guy that stops in at my work said he got a 250lb boar east of Hinckley on Sunday night.

There are bear in Sherburne county; National forest and in the Sand Dunes.
