North Shore

Just got back from a couple days up on the north shore. Here a few photos I thought I would share.

I like the second one best, but would have liked to see a very stopped down aperture to produce enough depth of focus to get the background lighthouse in focus, too, as well as cropping out much of the sky to center the eye on the lighthouse and rocks. I really love the stairstep pattern of the foreground rocks.

And, of course, the final image of the red-necked grebe sucking down a monster fish is a great capture.

I agree with Steve. The rocks in the foreground really make the shot. Also, I'm sure glad he could identify the grebe. At first, I thought it was a sea lion wolfing down a meal.

Nice shots. The falls turned out pretty good for no ND filter. It's tough to get the shutter speed slow enough on a bright day. Glad the tripod worked out for you.

Great capture of the hungry Grebe. Both shots of Split Rock are cool. I like the fact that you shot them in your own way and not like the post card style

Not sure if that is a loon in the first one or that grebe, but it's neat to have in the foreground. Nice shots
