Wade Joseph
If you were purchasing a new boat and they gave you the option of either a 75 yamaha or 75 honda (tiller)? Or even the 70 yammie 2 stroke?
Down Deep
I have run both. The Yamaha was a 150 VMAX EVI 2s which I ran for 8 seasons with only one problem a fuel pump. The Honda was a 50 Tiller which I had for 6 seasons with no problems. Use is an extimated 50 to 60 days a year and I dragged them all over northern MN and the rock roads north of the border. I would rate both excellent in performance and would either choice would be good. Yamahas cost less. What are you going to put it on???????? overdalimit
75 yam 4S is a sweet motor Wade! Smooth, quiet, dependable. And I am an OMC owner. Next motor will be a 4S for sure.

Northlander
No brainer for me Wade. That Yamaha is a great motor, especially for trolling. With the ability to customize your RPM's to get just the right trolling speed its awesome. Honda is a good motor but they havent done much to them since they came out. I think they are also a bit heavier although in that size it may not matter much. Good luck with your new boat purchase should you pull the pin. LMITOUT
No problems here with my 90HP Yamaha 4 stroke tiller. The VTS is sweet.
caseymcq
The Honda weighs 373 lbs and is carbureted. The Yamaha weighs 369 lbs and is fuel injected. The 4 lbs is no big deal but the fuel injection would be the major deciding factor for me. The Yamaha is also cheaper. As mentioned the VTS is an extremely nice feature. I have a 2005 75 hp Yamaha 4-stroke that is fuel injected. The motor starts and runs like a champ.
Jim Almquist
Go with the Yamaha.I have a Yamaha 60 4 stroke tiller and would not trade for and other brand.
196thDLR
I have run a 75hp Yamaha 4s since July 2003. This is a tiller model. At 5800rpm's it will push a fully rigged 1775 Pro-V at 35 to 37 mph in Walleye chop water.
