The past 2 weeks the bite has been awesome. I have been going out several times per week with my daughters. We have been catching around 20 or so every evening.

Using a four inch blue and silver floating Rapala. My Neighbor hooked a 5 pounder on Sunday night. Fishing anywhere in 4-8 feet of water casting toward the weedlines.

Anything topwater has been working for my son and a friend of his. My son caught a 20.5" 5+ pound bass using a scum frog on a central Mn lake last night. Catch and Release of course. They also caught 6 over 18". It was a great night for them.

Fished in WI this last week for smallies on the river. Water was down and my regular areas were shallower then usual and held lots of small(10-14") fish, caught mostly on small crayfish cranks and white jigs. Most of the fish I caught were puking up crayfish as I unhooked the as well. Once I found some deeper water I found some better fish fishing senkos along the rock walls and deeper areas. Once it started getting dark some of the better fish did move shallower though.

I got out for a bit early Saturday morning on one of my favorite stretches of the river to chase smallmouth and crappie.

I was on my partners vessal so I had to limit my usual array of poles to:

- White willow blade spinner

- Senko

- Tube

- X-rap

- Mepps # 2 and # 3 Aguila spinners

- Bobber rig to try to pull in some slab crappies

As I was waiting at the lauch I could not be water without fishing. Tossed the White spinner and first two casts from shore produced two smallies. Both in the 14 inch class.

We tried to find the slab 13-14" crappie that had been found the last couple of trips but were unsuccesful and focused on the Smallies.

The White spinner bait and Mepps spinners were by far the bait of choice but the fish were smaller with most in the 12-14" class. Surprisingly I was also getting some monster rock bass that continue to push the recorded state record 2 lb fish. I did not officially weigh any but I honestly believe two of them would have put me in record book.

Senkos and tubes produced and appeared to trigger larger fish with a few 16-18ers. The X-rap did not get fished much but again did not produce like it had last year. Slowly falling down my list of go to baits.

Overall great day on the water. The size was a bit smaller then in past with 75% of catch under 15" I also ran into many more misses then I am used to. I would guess 25% of fish were lost after initial hook or by the boat. The good thing most were seen. My partner also tried a jig and work along a rock shelf to see if larger fish staging deep or if a wondering walleye could be caught. Hooked into monster fish that took us for a tour of the river. It ended up being a monster catfish.

That's all I got. No fishing for a bit as this heatwave blows through.

Waded a southwest-metro lake this evening for two hours. Fishing was pretty slow. Waded a big pad field for most of the time and was dissapointed with only 2 small fish on topwater frogs. Finally switched to a deeper coontail weedline just before sundown and landed a nice 18 1/2" fish on a 4" senko.

In the Chisago lakes area, the bass are in full summer mode now. They are on the outside weed edges, and off shore rock piles. I went fishing today with ole matty, we caught some fish on semi-deep rocks on stupid rigs and dropshots. Also got some decent fish on texas rigs on the deeper weed edges.

well, my 3 straight day of fishing hard.. Yesterday was a ton of fun with ole matty. We didn't catch a ton of fish.. but was still a good time.

Today I spent 10 hours in a boat with another FM member Ham(Steve Hammer) we went to a lake I had never been on before. He wanted to see what I would do to fish this lake. I have to admit, with the overcast conditions I tryed shallow first, not much going on. I then drove the boat around looking for somewhere I want to slow down and fish deep. I through a bouy out in about 14 feet of water where I had found a halfway decent coontail weed edge. I caught a nice healthy 18.5" fish on my second cast and backed it up with another on the very next cast. Ham and I ended up cathing 6-7 fish from that first spot. Which included his largest of his life a 19.3/4 in fish, a hog and his first ever from deep water so he says. We then found a similar spot down the lake a bit that was even better, Deeper coontail and a more pronounced edge to it. We put(lost cound, if I had to guess)20 more fish in the boat, with the smallest being about 17 inches. I got sore wrists, and a sore thumb! grin.gif Life is good!

All fish wer caught on a texas rig with a straight tail worm. Exude Crawler to be exact.

Fished the Croix today south of Taylors falls. Caught 13 SM, one LM among other species. Mostly on a white mini strike-king spinnerbait, but a couple fish on softplastics and cranks. Fish were shallow holding to primarily wood cover. Rocky areas were not nearly as productive, and midstream cover(rock or wood) and current seams and eddies gave up a big fat 0. So ALL the fish I caught were along banks, and nearly all were from wood cover. The more branches the better, and isolated cover was most productive.

Fished an east metro lake today after work. I was out for about 4 hrs. The fish werent going crazy but the ones I did manage to catch were nice. I got a 20.25, 19.5, 19.25, 18.5, 18, and a 17. All fish were caught on a jig and various trailers, and all but one were caught very shallow under docks. I spent most of my time fishing deep and there just wasnt anything going on so I moved up and started fishing the docks of wich there arent many on this lake and started hittin em on the jig. I had the camera down on a few of my deep spots and saw plenty of fish they just werent biting for some reason. I tried the jig and the drop shot and deep cranks but nothing worked

Your bro has sure grown the chops out smile.gif Nice fish guys!

Took dad out this morning and stuck several bass, most came off docks. Nothing over 3 pounds though. Still a great morning to be on the water!
