were they bad bites or just nibbles? Bandaids or stitches?

Minor abrasions.

On a side note, If I had to choose a fish that would most likely bite someone, I would choose the Northern Pike. They are actually a distant relative to the shark, and are the most agressive biting fish I know of. I think most people might assume they are Mushies becouse Muskies can get rather large. Like I said, we have no idea what she was actually bit by, but it was something.

Dietz is correct, I usually take along a small catfish to protect me from the nasty dogfish, they usually chase it and leave me alone.

Best defense against it is a Tazer, just wait until it swims very close than zap it... grin.gif

As a kid, we liked to walk near spawning sunfish and have they bite our toes....

Fish attacks in MN are VERY rare. And, if they do happen...very very minor. The news media made a big deal out of a little scratch. The boy didn't even know what happened until it was all hyped up. Now he is afraid of the water. He had no idea what happened until the hype. In fact, I heard he "felt" something but kept swimming for a long time yet...until his mom noticed the scratches. Then he said, "Something hit me". That turned into "Something bit me."

He probably stepped on a branch....

Actually they did a toxicology test and it ended up being a snake bite....non venomous thankfully but scary none the less.

I'll never swim or fish in any lake in Minnesota again because of this heinous act.

Spread the word.... grin.gif

You guys all have it Bass ackwards! The musky/sunny was not biting the boy in defense of territory or out of hunger. It is an ancient mating ritual, when a land dweller has been selected by the aquatic world to create a fisherman!! grin.gifgrin.gif
