Take a kid crawler hunting-free bait!

Its rainin'...crawlers will be out at dark. No school or work tommorrow. My 3 boys will be buggin' be.

Then take them Morel Mushroom hunting. Lilacs are starting to bloom. Looks like 4 days of rain. If they aren't out this weekend, they should be just afterwards. Even my boy who dislikes mushrooms, likes Morels. Kids like missions.

I've never really hunted for crawlers before, but would love to try it. I live in sherburne county, where much of the soil is sand. Where would be a good location to look for them? thanks.

Schools, golf courses, parks, hospitals, they all tend to keep there grass kept up and mowed low for easier spotting and grabbing.

I thought I blew posting this when we only got a quarter inch of rain and things were drying out by dark; but we found at least 50 before 10:00 pm. Can run the hose for some extra ones if its dry where you are. Might go out again this weekend when its even wetter.

The ole girl and this ole boy went out last night,I like to get our crawlers before the mosquitos come out,I got 74 she got 25 she has only been catching them about 5 times now!We were out for 40 minutes.Two more nights like that we'll be set for the year,We are going tonight if its not raining,we had 1/4 inch rain yesterday.And I also remember goin out with Dad gettin bunches but it was always June MAN THE BUGS!! I was 8 yrs. old when I started.

Bless you guys- the bullheads'll love ya!! My old neighbor when I was a kid used to have an electric prod system he'd stick in the ground, he would go out in the middle of a sunny day and get 'em all day long.

Morels ARE just starting, more rain would have been better. Found only seven today (Sunday). Check out "Hunting" forum for more talk.

When I was a kid we would run the hose in the backyard under a heavy canvas tarp for a while. During the day! We didn't get a lot of of crawlers, but enough to fish for the day. Riding our bikes to the lake... the memories.

What's the going rate for kid's crawlers? My kids will sell some to a guy at my wife's work, he's going to Canada (only artificial bedding allowed).

I gave him $5 for all I could use in one day. I didn't even use a dozen. His smile was pretty big and probably thought I was a real sucker. Of course, I was bragging I was going to catch tons of fish and use all of his nightcrawlers and really rip him off. (He was fishing with us)

Anyone know of a place to pick em the Brainerd area? We used to go through allthe neighbors yards but I dont think they would let me this day and age. Call the cops is what they would do.HEHE
