2007 King of the Cats Official Rules

1. The timeline of this contest will be May 4 12:00 am to Sept 30 11:59pm.

2. Teams will consist of 5 members that will be picked at random.

3. Boundaries will be anywhere in the state of Minnesota including but not limited to the Mississippi, Minnesota and Red Rivers.

4. Species will be Flathead and Channel Cats

5. Fish measurement will be length x girth. All measurements will be rounded to the nearest half an inch (use your best fair judgment). Pinched tail is allowed on Channel Cats.

6. All entries must include a picture within 48 hours of catch that clearly shows the participant that caught the fish (no sharing catches) the fish, and a control item that will be released prior to contest start.

Here's a sample picture from a similar contest I fished last year.

7. All entries shall be submitted by email to [email protected] using the following format

Participant’s Team Number or Name

Participant’s Username/Screenname

Species Caught

Length x Girth

Date of Catch

Picture must be attached to this email

Example:

Team #3 (or team name)

dtro

Flathead

37" x 22.5"

Caught 5/8/2007

Optional- I would appreciate any additional info about the catch, bait used, time of day, gear used, GPS coordinates (kidding) or whatever else you would like to add

Scoring:

Pts will be awarded by using length x girth

Participants are allowed to enter one fish of each specie. The participant can only enter another fish if the total score is 5 pts or more. Example participant had previously entered a fish 39"x24"=63 total pts. The bigger fish must equal 68 or more inches/pts.

Each team will use the four teams members score for a total. Example:

Team #2

Participant 1- channel cat 45pts flathead 48pts = 93pts

Participant 2- channel cat 40pts flathead 36pts = 76pts

Participant 3- channel cat 30pts flathead 55pts = 85pts

Participant 4- channel cat 39pts flathead 0pts = 39pts

Total team score=293 pts

Bonus Points

At the end of the contest, bonus points will be awarded to the teams with the largest of each specie.

1st biggest Flat 30pts

2nd 20pts

3rd 10pts

1st Biggest Channel 30pts

2nd 20pts

3rd 10pts

In the event of a tie score, the team with the largest Flathead will win.

Catch and release is strongly encouraged. Dead fish or stringer pictures will not be allowed.

This is all about fair play and having fun!

Good Luck

I hope to have the teams picked in a couple of days. We have enough for 6 full teams at this point. There may be a few late comers, but I will need to stop entries shortly.

Hey Darren -

If its not to late add my name to the list. I have to keep you and LFC honest - I'll hang a couple of St Croix pigs for you guys to try to match.

dtro, you havn't stated what the control item is yet have you? Or did I miss it?

I am assuming that you are waiting until right before the contest starts to give that out. But what do I know?

Yes, I will release the control item probably the day before the contest begins. This will ensure that an early fish isn't snuck in wink.gif It will basically be a few words of text that can be printed out, or in a jam, scribbled on a piece of paper.

What I plan on doing is printing out a copy and having it laminated and keeping it in my tackle bag.

Remember, no control item in photo, no points.

I think we should include a date too! IF...by chance you forget everything except your camera....write in the sand or dirt! Make sure its legible!

Just to clarify that a bit, it will be a requirement that the fish, angler, and control item must appear in the same photo at once. So if you do need to write it in the sand, make sure that the fish and yourself are all on the picture.
