vexilar battery

I went to charge my vexilar battery before I store it and, I found the switch was on some how. Well I charged it, and it doesnt hold anything. Anybody replace these, how much are they, and where do you go to get new ones? Do I need to just order one from vexilar, or try batteries plus? I do use it sometimes on soft water, so I would like one soon!

they cost about 20 bucks but you can find them on sale for 10 this time of year

Gander, Cabelas, Fleet Farm...pretty much anywhere. Doesn't have to be a "Vexilar" battery either. Any brand 12v will work.

There are a couple of options here. The new Vex units came with a 9 amp battery. Previously they were supplied with a 7.2 amp battery. The 9 amp units are harder to find than the 7.2 amp battery. They will provide you with a longer run time, but usually cost more. They are the same size.

I think the kind of battery you get should depend upon how much it cost. For an example, I have the older vex battery and after two days at Red Lake with no charge, I could still pick up my battery. Also take into consideration some vex's suck up more juice than others.

Buy 2 or 3 at $10 buck or so each and never have to worry about a dead battery agian. It's a very cheap way to purchase piece of mind when on the lake.

Mine had the 9 amp, it worked great no problems, untill the switch got left on! Thanks, I didnt know if stores stocked these or if I had to order from vexilar. Im guessing I better get there soon, before they put them away for the summer.

I sell Vexilars for a living and I can tell you the guy's that spend the $35 for the 9amp never come back with a bad experience! My last batterie lasted 4 years. When I'm out on the ice/water that's the last thing I want to worry about. Scheels always has them out, because it works great as a batterie for the portable summer locators that draw more juice as well,

I would go with the Vexilar Brand battery (if they still sell them)...my buddy and I have owned the same batteries for years and have never, ever had any trouble. They stay strong for a long, long time and have lasted for years. Worth the extra money if you ask me. I've had the "cheap" ones before and that's exactly what they are. I like my fishing too much to be messing around with multiple batteries out on the lake and wondering when/if my battery is going to go ka-poot.

I have a half dozen brands of 7 amp hour batteries and have had very good luck with all of them. If your going to do anything get yourself a Digital Charging System

Over charging is the worst thing you can do and more often then not the reason your 7 and 9 amp batteries are going bad.

The Digital Charging System won't overcharge your batteries.
