I own 7-8 abu garcias and they are top notch for reels on the heavey side, and would be my reccomendation for a first baicaster [if this is the case]. In addition to the Shimanos I also have a Cabelas prodegy low profile. It is sweet, I bought it for about $100, but they were on sale last time I looked. For a 1st bait caster, go with an Abu C4 spooled with braid. Once you get that down you can get a nice low profile and then another, and another, and another ....
