mr. heater wont heat!

Question

hey guys,i have a mr. heater regular model circa 2001.i have never used it more than 10 times a winter and this year i can get the pilot to light but when i try to turn it to high to get the grill lit it goes out.i used a new cylander so i know i had enough propane plus my buddy's sunflower lit right up.so has anyone had this problem or one like it?is there anywhere local that fixes stuff like this or is it even worth it.i spent 100$ on it 6 years ago and like i said used it sparingly just wondering if its worth time/money or if i should go get something else.thanks fdr

I had a similar problem ,,,I ended up taking it apart and cleaning it ,,,I couldnt believe how much oil/contamination came out of the valve and lines ,,,Im not sure where I poicked up the contaminated LP as I use 11# or 20# tanks for this heater but I will consider a filter soon

I had the same problem first it started to just go out then the darn thing just quit lighting all together. The pilot worked just fine I ended up replacing the thing with a new sunflower and haven't had any issues. My 5600 feels alot warmer on these windy cold days with the sunflower than the Buddy ever did. I also had the heater since 2001. GL
