Broken Lava-Lamp clean up...

Well the kid broke the lava lamp all over his carpet last night nad now I've gotten most of the waxy stuff up with the steam cleaner, but the purple coloring of the lamp is not coming off.

ANY SUGGESTIONS????

replace the carpet.

Besides having a professional come in I don't know what other options you have. And even with that you may not get it all out.......did you search for other cleaning tips?

you might want to try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser's, I believe it was that brand, I used on our carpet when my daughter spilled grape juice on cream carpet with that and resolved I got it out...

I have gotten many stains out using the white can of Chem-Dry spray you can buy in the store. It is the same stuff the pros use. My wife once set a bottle of Old English on the carpet and the cat knocked it over and leaked for quite a while and left a huge spot. I used a can of this and got it all out and that was on a off white, speckled carpet. Worth a try.

The kid loves these things. He had one before and the bulb burnt out and melted the side of it so I threw that away but he wouldn't part with this one. He's done with them now!!!

Try Spot Shot. Its worked for anything that we have gotten on our carpets including red wine and markers. For $3.99 its worth a shot.

try finger nail polish remover it has taken ink out of my carpet after the pup chewed up some pens. just put on wait a minute then dab out. worth a shot.

Regular rubbing alcohol - I've had great luck with it. Dampen a wash cloth/rag (make sure the rag won't create more of a mess) with it and daub/rub, etc etc.

I have used non-chloronated brake parts cleaner on lots of stains around the house. Spray on-rub off. Try on a scrap or in a spot out of the way- had one person tell me it melted the carpet in there car. I use it anywhere I have a stain that I need to get out!!!!!

Definitely try in an inconspicuous place. We had some brake cleaner at the shop that was melting the clear coat on aluminum wheels. After polishing brake dust out of four we switched brands.

OxyClean. It has gotten some pretty bad stains out of the carpet for me.
