nothing much going on tonight... according to CNY outdoorsman, schniebls was iced over but we had a nice 5-10 outta the northwest that put just under a foot of chop at the bar. fished for about a half out and got to cold. it was just a trial run tonight anyway. finished up with no fish and cold hands frown.giffrown.gif... o well this weekend looks like a good long rod forecast.

I haven't been on here in awhile, and I just got caught up reading the posts I missed. I have been busy at work (again). The other night the boys hit Lake X and got some nice eyes in that lake effect storm. I give them credit for sticking it out in those white out conditions. I am going to hit it tonight after work for a few hours...winds are going to pick up later in the day out of the south, which should be good for our area.

Hey, I read on another site that access at the Manor has been stopped. One guy said that cops are kicking people off of there. Any truth to that?

bigjohnnyice-

this is true, CNY outdoorsman and i were there a couple nights ago and there is a barracade with no fishing signs all over. to my knowledge noone has been kicked out of there by police, maybe the oneida nation security but ive heard that the cops wont respond to problems that the nation reports. but yes this IS off limits and im sure is being watched. the nation is very funny about stuff like this

Too many waders coming off the water with limits and putting them in their vehicles and going back for another round. Pirates get what they deserve, but too bad they have to take the real fisherman down with them. It's called policing your own . . . if we don't than we can expect to lose access priviledges by those that own the property. Just like littering, if it keeps up, don't expect the area to be available to fish from. I mention littering because our spot at the bar is attracting old fishing line, bottle caps, plastic bags, lure boxes and beer bottles and cans . . . not to mention a host of new waders.

I'm actually suprised that you all fish by Schneibles, I was under the impression that it was posted as well. I talked to the owner of the open spot on the east side of the creek where the little lot is 2 years ago, he said he posted it because of the beer cans and worm boxes, trash etc. Its really a terrible thing, because both spots are great for walleye fishing, but it's also a great place to take kids bullhead fishing in the spring. If anyone runs short of a spot, they are more than welcome in small numbers to come fish off the point where I live as long as my gf and I are living here. There are a lot of campers here in the summer, but I have their lifts and docks out by October 1st generally. That is all except for 2 or 3 perch fisherman who like to stay out a little later. I am only a tenant , but i'm on fair terms with the landlord, and she generally allows me to have a guest or 2. There is also a very good point 1/4 mile down the street, and if you ask permission you can fish it as well. Generally speaking theres usually just a few who fish it in Nov-December, and very very few that go out in January.:-) Another bonus fishing over here is you can leave the waders in your truck, and keep your feet dry. Well i'm off, gonna go look at a pond that freezes early, and call some friends in the north country.

Had to REALLY work at it to get to the walleye grounds last night starting with chopping some pretty thick ice at the launch to get the boat in the water, smashing out a rear light on my trailer backing in, and then breaking about 500 yards of pretty thick ice with the Lund to get out to some open water. The wind was howling, fingers went numb and there were some 3 foot swells on the lake but I made about a 16 mile body slamming run with the boat airborne every other wave, trolled for two hours and ROCKED em! My bowmount auto pilot trolling motor is broke and all I can say is a transom mount electric SUCKS I couldn't take my hand off that motor for a second or the wind would spin the boat right around ooo.gif

Surface temp is down to 36 and putting your hands in that water is COLD!

Can't go tonight because my girlfriend needs my truck to move a horse but I plan on taking the boat out again tomorrow night and Sunday. cool.gif We're getting to the end here with the boating and this will be my last weekend.

I think you should change your name to HARDCOREFISHERMAN, i'm assuming you didn't get any volunteers for your guide service this trip. But I have to say those are 3 fatties, and battling the elements makes them all the more tastier.

As my pop would say, some fisherman are nuttier than a fruitcake, but some fruitcakes have a few more nuts than others. I think this forum is the perfect home for them. :-)

Think Cold

CNY outdoorsman and i decided to head out in the rain last night. 2 people at the bar and one more showed up. nothing off the preechers box or the channel (very unusual). so we ventured to schniebls and managed to get wet... without catching fish... frown.giffrown.gif. o well. might hit it tonight with the old man and se what we can manage.

Hey Tim, gave you a call sunday at 11 am, been busy all weekend, my gf has strep , and the flu, so I have been to the doctors office thu-fri and saturday trip to emergency room. Today i'm tripping around for more meds and 7-up and all that whatnot. Saw some ice this morning, but it was covering my car and steps and not the lake. Oh well, theres always february. temps are not supposed to go over 34 the next week or so, lets hope it stays colder. I left my phone number on your cell, give me a call after 9 till 3 or 4. My shop is at my folks house and i'm there m-f for the most part.
